  1. I'm looking to make a start in the Forging world, however I'm having a bit of a problem finding a place that offers classes or apprenticeships in my area. If anyone has any information on schools or classes given near Peoria, I would greatly appreciate the knowledge.

  2. Started by LibrariaNPC,

Just as the title says: I'll be moving to Charleston, WV within the next two months for a job at one of the local libraries, and I'm curious to see who is set up out there, what groups are nearby, and see if there's a chance to meet up with other smiths and get to know the community. Thanks in advance for any input!

  3. me and at least two others from here will be at this event held on the 14th, 15th and 16th november just east of Coventry. I will have my usual stuff and will have my press with me in case anyone wants to see it. if you want to know more about the event just ask

Hey gang: Deb has a last dog training class in S. California and I get to go along. We'll be in the LA area, Arr. Nov. 5th am. 5th-9th. in Burbank, 10th-12th. in Ontario and 13th-15th in Calimesa. Dept the 16th. I'm hoping to hook up with some high school friends and have Deb's relatives to visit but will probably have free time to kill. I don't think I'll be renting a car it's been 43 years and a great white . . . birch attack since driving in S Cal. Anywho, if anyone has the time I'd like to meet up with a blacksmith or two while down. Frosty The Lucky.

  8. Hey guys, just wanted to post that I'll be out at the Tri-County Gun and Knife Show this coming Saturday and Sunday. Time is 9am to 5pm, admission is $8 and there's going to be around 1000 tables. If you're in the area, pop out, say hello, hang out for a bit and shoot the breeze! I've got a few copies of Steve Sells book I'll have on hand for purchase. Of course there'll be guns, knives and food plus whatever else the organizers have planned! Show is at the York Expo Center, parking is free. As always, it's just nice to meet some IFI members in person. J

  9. Just in case anyone was in the area, the Cooperstown Farmer's Museum is hosting it's annual Blacksmithing event this weekend. Lots of great smiths gather to talk iron and pound steel. This is where I got my start in Blacksmithing, It's a nice drive and there's plenty to do in town. (and the Baseball hall of fame of course!) 10. Hi, I am trying to find a blacksmith group near Wilmington, De. Like within a 1/2 hr of Wilmington, I work 6 days a week and have school 3 night a week so cant travel too much. If there isn't one, I would like to start one. Anyone send me a message with interest. I have taken 2 classes, so basically I know nothing. I bought what I could from a small shop that closed up, so I have equipment and little skill. So if anyone nearby want to either teach me or learn with me drop me a note. Thanks, Kunk

I will be in Seattle next weekend and wonder if there are any blacksmiths in town or near by? In Seattle for the first time so I don't know where everything is located, but would love to stop by a shop to talk and look. Leave me some names and addresses if possible. Thanks.

Hello all, I’m trying to find a skilled Blacksmith, instructional school, or a blacksmithing guild in the San Diego area. I have poked around in the pin “finding a blacksmith group near you.” Looked at Bandy guild in Escondido, bit of a drive but do-able if that’s my only option. I’m looking to retire from the navy soon and have always wanted to get my hands dirty with blacksmithing. I’d love to meet up with some knowledgeable folks out there and get a bit of experience.

  22. Hello everyone, I'm a new blacksmith and I was wondering if there were any clubs, organizations or individual blacksmiths around the SFV/LA area that help out beginning blacksmiths. I've looked around for quite a while now, and I have not had much luck. I tried the Orange county blacksmiths and they were absolutely great, but they were quite far away and the frequency of their lessons was somewhat slow. I know of Adam's forge which is right near me, but their prices are much too high. So if anyone knows of any other places or people, I'd be happy to hear it. Thanks.
