  4. On the weekend of April 28/29 there will be a hammer-in at the Freetown Historical Society Blacksmith Shop. 5. Started by Jayrocko,

Evening all. I was wondering if there was any blacksmith(s) in or near Great Falls Montana? Maybe like a group or some guild. I tried looking for such thing on the interwebs and no such luck for me. Heck even just a person that wouldn't mind me watching them work and asking questions. (even will try my hand at being a striker if needed) Just learning what I can from who I can until I can get all my items together for my smithy. (still in need of an anvil) I'm just eager to learn. If there is a member that wants to set up a meeting time just message me. Id very much appreciate it! :) Thank you for your time and info.

I am going to John Deere school Nov. 14 - 16 in Davenport, Iowa. I could bring a bucket of blacksmithing tools with me for the two evenings I'm free. I'm an intermediate blacksmith and would like to learn something new from an experienced smith as well as look at someone else's shop. What do you think?

  21. Started by JHCC,

In the "Never too early to start planning" department, I just made my hotel reservation for Quad-State 2018. (I actually made reservations for both September 21-23 and September 28-30, since I'm not sure which weekend it will be. One of the (few) benefits of frequent business travel is the hotel reward points!) Looking forward to meeting all of you, finally!

  23. Started by Glenn,

Is there a SOFA Quadstate 2017 ? Everything I find on their site and on the internet is from 2016. Last newsletter was Winter 2016. I find no place to register for 2017, or any information in the event for this year.

  24. The 2017 Hammer-in will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 1-5 PM. Demonstrations starting at 2:00. As before, if you would like to participate, please feel free to attend. If you would like to come, please let ‘Mike’ know so we have a ballpark figure of participants. 1-802-357-2010 or by e-mail at [email protected] The mill will furnish the refreshments. Price: FREE! If you are not familiar with Ben’s Mill, it is a formerly water-powered woodshop and blacksmith shop in Barnet, VT. Ben Thresher was a local legend for his ability to fix or build just about anything out of wood or metal. The mill is owned by a non-profit, Ben’s Mill Historic Trust, with the g…
