Anyone in the Tampa / Clearwater area? I'm down here for a few months helping out my father because he has cancer and I'm trying to find a place or blacksmith club I might be able to do some forging at. Brought down my anvils and forges from Pennsylvania but I can't set them up where my father lives. The condo people won't even let me set up a bbq outside! If anyone knows of any groups or open forges in the area please let me know. Thank you

Do any of you live near Lafayette, Louisiana? I have a few questions and would love to chat with someone in my area. I have 0 tools, knowledge, or experience. I do however have a weird, unexpected, yet great interest in this trade. I do not intend to make any money, but for some strange reason lol, I find myself absolutely consumed by the idea of heating iron and beating it into a shape. I can draw decently... BUT I have a fairly big concern. When I watch videos on YouTube and see someone using a belt sander to hollow grind a knife blade, I feel like I'm watching Rembrandt paint. This MUST take a huge amount of talent... am I right? Also it must be extremely difficult to …

Anyone interested and working together let me know. My interests are refining basic skills, civil war blacksmithing, and wheel wright. Thanks Kunk

I've searched but I haven't located any good info. I'm trying to figure out what sort of demos etc as well as what is available as far as camping / hotels for Quad State. I've been thinking of trying to combine a trip out to visit friends out in Wisconsin /Illinois with Quad State this year. I'm looking to see what demos etc there might be and on what days, so I can do a bit of planning. I'm trying to decide if it works better to hit Quad state on the way out to visit them, or on the way back. I figure the 1st day at Quad State is the best time to hunt for goodies tailgating. If I go out to see the friends early, Friday at Quad state is easy. If I go to Quad State 1…

Hello, or perhaps I should say hallå, I am am visiting Sweden for the next 12 weeks, and am very interested in meeting with local craftspeople while I am here. I know Sweden is rich with fine craft and design history and I would love to learn anything I can from those still practicing those traditional trades, especially blacksmiths, bladesmiths and other metalsmiths as I work in these media myself. Currently I am staying in Linköping for the next week and a half, and I also plan to visit Restenäs, Stockholm, Borlägne, and hopefully Uppsala while I am here, and I am open to traveling elsewhere as funds permit. If any of you happen to be in the area or have a contact …

Are there any other members here from the greater Huntsville Alabama area? I am new to this hobby and new to the area and am looking to learn more. I tried to attend the meeting of the Huntsville Chapter of the Alabama Blacksmith Council at Burritt on the Mountain last weekend but for some reason the meeting was canceled. Their website is a bit out of date so I though I might ask here to see if anyone is a member or knows an active group in the area. Thanks

Hi There, I have a 16 year old son who is in love with all things hot and metallic...he's looking for kindred souls to learn from and experience the forge/blacksmithing world. I saw an ad for a meeting of the club from January, and was wondering if there are any events coming up this fall that myself and my son could attend, to meet some of the folks and learn.

I'm just getting into blacksmithing. I have read a few books and have watched countless YouTube videos on the subject, and I feel I am ready to get dirty and put a hammer in my hand, but I im having trouble finding any good resources around my area. Is there any meetups coming up or maybe some one with a shop that might be willing to have me around for a few days in the Chicago land area?

Hello all, Still pretty new to this site and I wanted to let you know about a hammer in I found out about when this weekend by chance while visiting the beach this weekend with my wife. I met a blacksmith by the name of Herman Doty who has a shop/store in Rockaway Beach, Oregon called 'Washed Ashore Arts and Crafts'. I had no idea such places like this even existed- anyways I chatted with Herman and he encouraged me to come to this hammer in at Camp 18 off hwy 26 (on your way to/from the beach). I couldn't remember all the details but looked it up when I got home and their website is a bit lacking however the facebook page has lots of pics of the shop and details…

We recently relocated from a ranch in eastern Montana to a ranch in the Shenandoah Valley in northern Virginia. I am really looking forward to the greater access of blacksmithing in this part of the country compared to Montana. Any Northern VA Smith's out there?
