January 16, 20206 yr Hammer making tongs, hammer eye punch and drift all forged from forklift fork. I might trim the hammer eye punch down a bit.
January 16, 20206 yr Thanks Alex.. Benona, did you cut them out with a bandsaw or grinder and cutoff wheel and then forge?
January 16, 20206 yr Cut one big chunk with the chop saw and forged it all down to 2 in inch x 2 inch and hot cut into 4 pieces under the power hammer then forged down from there.

January 17, 20206 yr About three months into it and had a decently productive day. Tried some different hooks.
January 17, 20206 yr Thanks, I'm looking for more things to make that are similar in difficulty to practice my technique. Any suggestions are welcome!
January 17, 20206 yr Nice video Jennifer. I missed most of the herb hook portion of the competition in person, so it's nice being able to watch it now.

January 17, 20206 yr Klatchianmist, Along the same lines as your hook on the right, you might try a stake flipper. The roll up at the handle end. A short taper to start the roll up and a long taper for the business end. I'll get a picture up in a bit. Dave Here you go. It was the first project my mentor had me do. Thanks again, Jim.
January 17, 20206 yr Jennifer, another great video, thanks for sharing it with us. Klatchianmist, good work you’re giving me ideas. GFH, great work on the steak flipper, very smooth taper.
January 17, 20206 yr Thanks Les glad to help with ideas. Golfishunt thanks for the suggestion, that looks really nice and smooth.

Make 3 or 4 of the same hook, get a nice piece of lumber and purty it up. Attach the hooks and you got a coat rack. Gives a reason to do something more than once and it takes a while for all your friends and family to get tired of getting coat racks.
January 17, 20206 yr Good video Jennifer. I can't imagine forging in front of more than 1 or 2 people, let alone fielding questions and carrying on conversation! Mostly just me mumbling and the occasional use of words that aren't so nice. Klatchianmist nice assortment of hooks. Keep up the good work. GFH, nice smooth looking work. Well done
