I have had this hammer for almost 10 years. It was found out of service in a factory on a business trip to china. I want to find out who made it and if parts are still available. It does work. Thank you for any info.

Hi all. I've recently acquired a 125# Bull Hammer that I'll be picking up later this week/weekend and I have a few questions for the assembled experts here. I've run a few makes of utility hammers in the past, but not a Bull, and Tom Trozsak is a tough guy to get in touch with to get answers from the horse's mouth. What type of oil should I feed it? Plain air tool oil or something else? What pressure ranges should I be regulating to for different types of work? There is a sticker that says it's adjusted for 140PSI and has a max of 150PSI. Should I just stick here? What settings/linkages should I check/adjust after the hammer has been moved in order to ma…

I have a Bull 125 air hammer. I am replacing the seals, again, in the main cylinder. If anyone has specific expertise in doing this I'd be very grateful for any tips or advice. Specifically, Tom Trozak drills a small hole in one of the seals to avoid an air block. Some people think this is crazy, others, including the cylinder makers tech specialist, think it makes sense. So I'd like a third opinion--as well as any other insight. My phone number is number removed. Talking always seems better than typing to me.

I have a Bull 125 which usually works pretty darn well, but occasionally has problems that baffle me. This results in difficult periods of not having a working power hammer in the shop, until I stumble upon, or luck into a solution. The one person who knows a great deal about these hammers is Tom Trozak--who invented and developed them. But for some reason he doesn't seem able, or perhaps willing, to answer my scores (literally) of phone calls to him. So I've decided to try to take advantage of this "iforgeiron" forum to look for someone who has such knowledge, and is willing to share it. I'd really appreciate any advice, knowledge or insight into these machines …

My Iron Kiss 150 lb hammer is installed and running. I was surprised that it is running well on my 5hp 60 gal, 17cfm compressor. Naturally, with only 60 gallons of air the compressor cycles relatively early but until pressure runs down the hammer functions quite well. In hydraulics, psi controls power while gpm effects speed. Does that correlate to psi and cfm? I have a 250 gallon tank I can hook up to my compressor, or I can do that and pick up an additional 5hp compressor to double my cfm. What would be the effect of doubling my cfm on the performance of the hammer? Will it hammer more hits per minute, or will double cfm just fill the air tanks mor…

Hello, I'm looking for a Beaudry & Co power hammer placard. Anyone have one or any leads on one, preferably one that isn't currently affixed to a machine? I'd prefer an orphan as I don't want one being taken from its rightful home on my account. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give, --Dan

I've been looking at Appalachian style helve hammers alot, but haven't bought the plans. I think I have it pretty much figured out, but have a question about the flywheel. I've seen some like James Helm use a tire clutch, with the push rod attached directly. I assume the wheel is weighted somehow? Or, alot of folks put the tire clutch on a shaft with a flywheel on the other end with the eccentric and push rod. It seems like it would be less parts if if the tire clutch and eccentric/flywheel were all one piece. Talk me through this... what are the advantages either way?

Well, I ended up purchasing the Iron Kiss 150 that I was asking the weight of earlier. It’s 4500 lbs and still in my trailer. While it will fit in my shop, once I got home with it I realized that it will be no easy chore to get it through my garage door. Hammer is 84” Garage door is 76”. I might figure out how to lay it down on its side, and forklift it in, but then am left with figuring out how to tilt it back up again. My ceilings are inly 8’ high so no real room or an A frame. I am thinking about drilling my floor for an anchor pin from which to fasten a come along. Any ideas besides driving it over to your place?

Well, it's finally finished. I tore it down Saturday and the wife cleaned and painted it for me. Great gal that one! I ran out of grease zerks and will have to make a run to TSC. I believe the lead shrank a bit after I welded in a "V" shaped stop inside the hammer right after pouring the lead in. I have to figure that one out yet. It doesn't seem to affect the awesome striking power any. Here's the video I made right after re-assembly. I love the control ability. Now to make some specialized tooling for it. Stitch

Saw this little guy in an old shop here in Wyoming. I'll hopefully get better pics later, but it appears to be only about 3.5/4' tall. The base doesn't look like any little giant I've seen, so any ideas?

I am just about finished with a 97 year service of a 3B I bought in the spring. I wanted to share some pics and story about this hammer . I talked with Bruce Wallace who was kind enough to share the date of completion and where the hammer was delivered to. It was completed and ready for delivery on April 30th 1920. I have been fortunate on one level that the hammer had not been hacked up or molested by incompetent mechanics. On another level it was really due to be gone through and repaired after a well used life of 97years. The hammer is a testament to when things were really built with care, precision and longevity in mind. The first two are a c…

I saw this at my local scrap yard. Maybe it's just a hunk of unusuable junk or a diamond in the rough. I have no idea. But I thought I'd share it with you all. I'd imagine they'd sell it at scrap metal prices. Pm me for the location.

I'm very interested in getting a Blu Max 155. They seem like an incredible machine and people seem to really value them. But before I get too enamored are there any other new power hammers that are good competitors at the $8,000 range? Does anyone have one and have any pro's or con's they could briefly explain? Thanks, Av

It's a long way off, but I'm starting to seriously think about getting an air hammer. The question I have is about power requirements. I've got 220 going to my shop, single phase only. The power is coming from the house through an 80amp breaker. I'm considering a self contained hammer with about 100 pound ram weight. I'm good at a lot of things, but electricity is black magic to me.

Just started my Clontz hammer build. Got plans and have started building some of the weldments/assemblies. Here is the story behind this build, Dad passed away May 28th at 97 years old. He had a lot of real old metal that is really showing its age. He didnt want to give it up even though he wasnt able to do much the last several years. So after he passed I am the only one in the family that welds/fabs/blacksmiths so I inherited all his things that he cherished so much. So on this build I want to use as much of his old stuff as I can out of respect. I hope some of you guys will jump in and guide me a little on this venture. Firs thing I have of his is one of those little s…

I've just got my hands on an old mechanical hammer. All the main bearings are fitted with grease nipples. On a different, and very very old hammer, all the main bearings were fitted with wick oilers/cups. Grease always seemed to me a nice thing to catch and trap dust, grit, soot and other nasties. Is there consensus on whether oil or grease is better on particular bearings? Or all? The late, great G. Sarver says, somewhere on these forums, 30wt oil for everything, and he was a man who new what he was about. Your thoughts, hints, tips…?
