Chefmikey
Hi There, I have a 16 year old son who is in love with all things hot and metallic...he's looking for kindred souls to learn from and experience the forge/blacksmithing world. I saw an ad for a meeting of the club from January, and was wondering if there are any events coming up this fall that myself and my son could attend, to meet some of the folks and learn. ThomasPowers
One of the larges and best blacksmithing conferences in the world is coming up the last full weekend in September in Troy Ohio---Quad-State Blacksmiths Round-Up (and not just for the Quad-States, I'm driving in from New Mexico) If you are in the USA, over 100 different countries are involved in these forums on the WORLD WIDE web, and somewhat near it would be a truly great place to find equipment, books, learn from demos and they have a beginner's class taught there as well. Steve Sells
Yes, every weekend somewhere. If you want more detail, then let us know which of the 160 plus member countries here at IFI you are from and we may narrow the answer down. ThomasPowers
I just spent a week in Austin on a business trip and I think I averaged a person a day referred to the Balcones Forge group for more information on smithing. (I had picked up another copy of "The Backyard Blacksmith", Sims, at Half Priced Books exit 251, as my copy has not made it back after being loaned out; it spent the work week behind the desk at my hotel as both day and night shift clerks were interested...So I guess I am still using a variation of the TPAAAT...)
