There are several things I could say about these pics, so here goes......... First of all, * THIS IS NOT A REAL TOOL! * Don't bother with making one unless you want to laugh uncontrollably! I had this little angle grinder which had died a while back. I had taken the housing apart and discovered that the brushes had somehow come loose, completely destroying the motor. A few days ago, inspiration struck me Why not just chuck my drill up to the grinder!? After all, all I needed was a motor, right? As you can see from the pics, what I wound up with was a swivel-head grinder that turns at....maybe.....200 rpm.........slow! It turns so slowly it won't make a spa…

Just curious about what you all think about someone changing their legal name. I'm for it (in fact, I hope to eventually do it), but I'm interested in how everyone else sees it.

I'm hoping some of the computer gurus can help me with this question. I started a website through Yahoo! in early 2004, which has a Merchant Store with secure credit card processing and all sorts of other features I don't need. I built the website with their propietary web program, called SiteBuilder. Although I've gotten a lot of work off the 'net, most of it is custom so it's completely unrelated to the Store features or processing CC's. I'm paying almost $1500 a year in website and CC fees with not much return on same from since the stuff I sell over the Web only amounts to about that much income - so I'm working real hard just to break even on the services. Ther…

I have a working prototype of a product that I want to market. There is already a product on the market similar to mine. The original has a patent. My question is... How much trouble can I get in if I just start producing and marketing my version? Any patent attorneys here?

There are rumours circulating that my dog is spoilt by my wife. To put the blacksmithing community straight on this my 110 pound pup this evening consumed: Smoked salmon and cream cheese, Duck Strawberries and cream Cognac (yes Cognac from my supply. He did NOT have a cigar. Any stories to the contrary are lies put around by my enemies. I wanted you all to know that.

Have you ever tried to feed your 'farm' dogs and cats, in the backyard.........at the same time? You know what happens,.....the dogs attempt to monopolize all the food. Here's a way around the problem. Put the cat food on a perch of some sort that the cats can gain access to .........and the dogs can't. This is based on an age-old fact; dogs can't climb! (At least, not as well as cats). The red building in the pics is an old smokehouse turned into a utility shed. There was a live tree growing on the right side of the door. It has since died, but still serves as the cat's climbing post.........that's why I haven't removed it. Anyway, it works like this; at…

  13. Forward: I kind of set this up a little like a Blueprint, but since it has nothing whatsoever to do with Metalworking, I figured I'd just post it here in the non-metalworking thread. Hey everyone, Since we all tend to be about recycling now and again (there's lots of scrap steel out there after all) I figured I'd recycle something different last week for Earth Day. So, in the same vein as "any heavy chunk of steel can be an anvil" I present "Any pile of pallets can be...Something" I took a walk during my morning break at work a couple weeks ago and noticed that some of the pallets in the pile behind the warehouse were pretty decent looking lumber. After a quick requ…

I recently came across some Romanian Army chemical kits that are used by soldiers to wash and neutralize toxic stuff from th enemy .. .in case of a chemical attack. The kit consists of 2 small vials, 3 small bottles filled with a sweet smelling pink liquid and several cotton balls. Can anyone please tell me maybe what those chemicals are and if they are toxic to humans or animals? and how to dispose of them safely.

Hi all, I just wanted to share some good news... I just got the word that I was accepted to graduate school at IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) for the Masters Degree program in Safety Sciences. I start June 1st. This program is totally online except for a one week intensive program each summer for three summers. IUP is one of the top universities for safety in the US. With a little luck and a lot of work, I'll graduate mid-June 2010. I'm back on workers comp for a little while, but safety is one of the things I've proven I can do. (Besides, walking around with wires attached to my arm reminds others to be safe.) Just getting into college again afte…

My wife Cookie, got a hand operated yarn ball winder, she asked me to wind some skeins of yarn into balls while she is in the hospital. Picture me at my puter desk in the basement designated smoking/woodshop/yarn winding area, with the skein dropped into a small cooler with the winder fastened to the slide out keyboard rest and 2 cats an older one and a kitten helping. Older one kept jumping into the cooler and grabbing the skein as it unrolls, kitten is jealous and keeps biting older cats tail and grabbing it with it claws, then sets up on hind legs and slams lid shut on older cat, occassionally getting older cats head between bottom and lid. My shirt front was wet fro…

  24. Hey all, Not sure how I've managed to not mention this here yet... but on or around May 31, 2008, the Sandy Creek Forge will be getting a new apprentice. Image #1 Image #2 This image confirms that the new apprentice is, in fact, of the male persuasion, but wasn't real sure about posting the image here, as the ultrasound tech did a most wonderful and professional job of labeling it..... Image #3-a solid fist with a nice strong grip. Image #4- The ultrasound tech almost fainted when she saw this one.... I, however, wasn't a bit surprised -Aaron @ the SCF
