Here's an oldie. Journeyman to striker, "When I nod my head, hit it!"

I think Moe said that to Curly.

Don't stop. I did, and those are twenty-three lost years of learning and skill development that I will never get back.  JHCC

If at first you do not succeed you are about average.

Red sky at morning, sailor take warning. Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

Not only Sailor's delight but farmers as well.  My grandfather would see the Red sunsets and tell us to get ready to hay the next day.  Got so I hated the red sunsets!

"any hammer in a storm"  used when grabbing the nearest hammer to work on a heat---demonstrates to students that it's not the hammer that's important, it's the skills!  (I particularly like to use the hammer they are complaining about to fix the issues with their piece...)

I've only seen a few where this one applied.  Usually the first couple days are more like "Are you trying to forge it, or tickle it?"  I don't remember where, but somewhere around here I've also heard something like "Don't just stare at it! Hit it!"

One from this weekend while trying to do too many things at once and burning off pieces of my goofing around project;

"There are no mistakes, only leaves."  - Me

As every time I ruin something, I turn the remaining steel into a leaf. Haha
