I have a nice Hay Budden 200lb Anvil which has a serial # 200367 on the base. Would anyone be able to help me out with the date?

Thanks to njanvilman ive been able to identify my anvil and thanks to a bunch of old fashioned elbow grease I've finally got my stand done, my anvil wire wheeled and a nice coat of lindseed oil cooked on. Even made a nameplate at work for free identifying the anvil in case i kick the bucket so the next guy will know what it is haha. Tell me what you think. Constructive criticism is welcomed. PS I know the anvil needs to be attached to the stand. Right now I just have it routed out and set in the pattern.

I've just been offered a very nice 44# Columbian for $150.00. Only one small nick/chip on the close edge of the face. Can someone weigh in with their opinion on the brand itself, and if the price is right?

Hey my step dad just gave me this anvil. Ive figured out its a trenton and weights 165lbs but i would really like to know the age. A 82685 or a 8268.5 im keeping it, but what are these anvils worth.

So I have a Hay Budden that I acquired years ago through my father. The only discernible information on the anvil that I can make out are "hay budden", "manufactured", "UK", and "4" The 4 is located on the center of the anvil below all of the other stamping. It has seen many years and there are many chisel type marks on the sides of the anvil. The only thing that I know about the anvil is that the face is about 4.5 in wide and 18 in long. The horn is about 10 (ish) in long. Tough to measure because a piece is broken off. The face is hard. So hard that my machinist buddy that I took it to, to clean up the face, went through two diamond flywheel bits on his mill…

Wondering what you guys think this is worth. The posting says it’s from 1903, 104 lbs and has very good rebound. Listed at $500. Is that too steep? In Michigan.

I just picked up this Trenton 125# and the serial number appears to be A39140. The other side is Z 125. Does anyone know what this would date back to? The side also appears to have the word AJAX on it with the Trenton diamond around itThank you for your time and info.

I have a haybudden anvil. I cant see to find any information on it. Ive been asked what the weight was but its attached to a large wood block so I cant weigh it. ive attached some pics. any information would be helpful

Been doing some looking around for a new anvil. The large Peddinghaus is my lead option at the moment. However, the Big Blu anvils look great too. I can’t find any recent reviews or feedback on the Big Blu though, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or comments. Thanks!

Could somebody help me to solve this mystery? Recently I bought an A&H anvil serial number 224975 - 175# but for my surprise I found out there are no more than 51000 manufactured by A&H, The stamp in my anvil clearly it is the correct brand mark, so why the serial number it is so high? Is it possible it is a false one?

I recently picked up this farriers anvil from a farm outside settler Alberta and can't seem to find any reliable information on it, and what it might be worth. It's got "TOMLINSON" cast into the side and has built in measurement lines and rounding dyes. 93 lbs.

Hello, everyone. My name is Dennis. I was hoping someone could help me try to estimate the weight of an anvil I hope to acquire at an upcoming auction. I think I can make out a 25 as the first two digits in the weight stamp, but it's difficult to read because it's covered in moss as the title indicates. Judging comparatively with photos of other Trentons it looks to me like it's at least 200lbs., but I figured a more knowledgeable eye would be better able to nail it down. It's a 4 hour drive from my location so, I'd sort of like to know what to expect. I'm also just curious. It looks to be in good shape. I got this great condition Trenton anvil from one of the sellers at the NEB meet, and I would like to know possibly a little more about it. What I gathered from AIA was that it was made from 1899 to 1904. It has 4 handling holes (one bottom, one under the heel, one under the horn and one underneath that one on the feet), and a cast base with hourglass depression. Tremendous ring and pretty good rebound with a small hammer. (still need to get a 1/2" ball bearing) Sorry I can't really read the serial number I'll try and get some baby power on it tomorrow. Also interestingly it is a smiths pattern with 2 pritchel holes.

I would like to know how the Mini Boy is doing under the hammer, it has a nice wide face for it's size but the face seems to be hanging out from the body some.

I borrowed this anvil from a friend who doesn't know much about it either. The top is tool steel and has some damage on the edges. No markings on the anvil that I can find. Any idea of the maker and suitability for use with the damage? I'm guessing it's 150+ pounds.

My uncle has a Hay Budden anvil that has a serial number 193 187 and the letters SS next to the serial number. Would anyone be able to give us some help as to when this anvil was manufactured and what the SS means? Thanks.

I have an old anvil that I aquired back in 1980-81. I have started looking on u-tub about blacksmithing. I would like to know more about my anvil. Any information I could get would be great. Has a Trenton LOGO (i think) on the side of it. See pictures. Also a series of numbers under the horn on the base. W 85 A830 48 (i think) The hardie hole is 1' X 1-3/8" looks like someone drilled it out to inlarge it. This anvil has been abused before I got it and I have used it when I needed it. Good anvil. Thinks for your help on this.
