Fork-N-Spoon
Greetings Das, . Just an old boys 2c. You could black heat or cold form the spoon end with a ball pien in your wood depression after a good brushing flat than a few file strokes to finish. Than to planish I would use a trailer ball back up and than a large ball pien mounted in the vice for for back up to a super smooth finish . Forge on and make beautiful things Jim

Yet another demo forge
Greetings DC, It's funny that you ask that question. I just finished a 4 day demo and packed all the gear in the pickup with ease.. I would guess the unit as pictured weighed about 120 but I decided to go yet another step and consolidate the load even further. I added a connection and the post vice now is part of the whole assembly. I also added a spring foot vice on the other end which worked super. It only takes about 5 minuets to assemble and sure made life easier.. I got a lot of complaints from other smiths and many pictures for their future projects.. Lots of fun to make so get busy and make one. Forge on and make beautiful things Jim

Lincoln 140 HD Weld Pak Wont weld?
Greetings Kailthir, Sounds like a input voltage or connection problem .. Check the ground connection at both ends.. A simple continuity tester will work just fine... 220.. 110? A volt meter at the gun and ground connections will tell you if the machine has voltage available for the gun and ground.. I am sure you have a simple problem and are just overlooking something.. Good luck Forge on and make beautiful things Jim

Blacksmiths helper
Greetings Scobb, . I have designed and built a lot of dies for the Smithing Magician . When I first started cost was a factor so I would just weld the forming end using 4140 to the 1/2 in cold rolled than heat treat.. Lots of possibilities . Rounds , flats . Tendons , cut offs. The list goes on and on. Great tool just use your imagination . I designed one for Jerry Hoffman ( the Blacksmith Journal) it was called the sizing die . A lower die with side limit pins to limit the distance between the upper and lower dies. Great for tenons and only one was necessary for many sizes . Have fun Forge on and make beautiful things Jim

Well, I Don't Know, Do You?
Greetings Jim, Just my SWAG .. It may be some sort of a cable guide used for pulling cable off a big spool or hooked to a fixture to guide it . I don't think it was ever used in a BS shop.. You might try my trick on unknown objects . Take it to a tractor show and just set it on ground and some good ol boy will come up with the answer. You could use it to bend round stock 90 degrees without a sharp inside corner bend. Forge on and make beautiful things Jim

Yet another demo forge
Greetings all, i have several demos to do in the next few months and got tired hauling the older style cast forges .. I have several and they all have the same thing in common. Heavy no firepot and the blowers are but a wiisper of air.. I decide to make a fold down light weight one from material I had kicking around . The top is half a flat belt pulley with a saw blade base with a Centuar round firepot . The fold down base is a anvil stand and the blower is a CO with lots of volume.. It is light and easy to disassemble and folds flat for easy transport.. It will serve me well this summer.. Had fun making it so get busy and make one for yourself. texturing copper sheet with needle gun???
Greetings Bmallen, I think you will find that an air chisel or scaler will be hard to control . I have a special machine that uses air chisel tools but it has a hydraulic table to control the impact.. For a look as per your picture I would use 2 flat plates and some steel shot with a little slag mixed in.. A treadle hammer or fly press would make it go much faster.. Be sure to aneal the copper first.. Just my 2c Forge on and make beautiful things Jim
