Show me someone who doesn't suffer and I'll show you someone that's disturbed lol.

I don't suffer from it; I enjoy it! especially as I'm disliking getting stuff of the floor more and more these days...

The floor of my shop counts as one of those dreaded horizontal surfaces...unfortunately.

Lol, I know what you mean Lou.

Blacksmiths are like crustaceans, we grow to fit our shell and then stuff starts getting piled on the floor, or in the corner, or higher on that shelf... if only that junk wasn't do darn useful.

The machine shop at work was getting rid of this. 130 lb Vulcan with a perfect face except for a couple of spots where some idiot torched it. I remember back in 2012 when I was desperately searching for my first anvil, I never would have thought that people would be giving them away to me for free just a few years later.

Smooth the edge torch divot into a swage and perhaps modify the others for punching and use them and the anvil---it's a feature!

This followed me home today from a scrap yard. 173 lb Fisher dated 1938. Excellent condition. beautiful edges.

Fantastic rebound even without cleaning the rust patina off.

Can't wait to pound some steel on it!

Remember to throw a party for it when it turns 100!  A great anvil and a quiet one too!

Ooooh pretty!

Frosty The Lucky.

i have anvil envy

Scrapyard, eh? What did you pay? Do we all need to be a lot more jealous?

I missed out on celebrating my Fishers 100th birthday :(. I picked it up when it was about 110. When is the next milestone? Dont tell me its two hundred years, cause i seriously doubt ill make it to the year 2105!

By the way, beautiful anvil cavpilot.

Hmm...I should plan something for my ca. 1830-1835 Mousehole's bicentennial.

Not all that jealous. I paid $500, which I think was fair to good.

The owner at the scrap yard got it for a pittance, but he knew he had something valuable. I'm just glad it never went on Craigslist or it would have gotten snatched immediately.

6” no-name (Taiwanese) bench grinder, 1/2 horsepower motor with a pull-on/push-off power button (good for emergency shut-off). Ten bucks from someone in the next town over, off Facebook Marketplace.

Said it before, Names are over rated. So many times when people try to identify an older unmarked English anvil, I have put down the keyboard. Just  wanted to dub them John Doe anvils. Haven't done it yet, don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Function over beauty.

A plasma cutter followed me home. The other one I have just isn't  strong enough. I needed a deeper cutter and the deal showed up soo.....time to pay this $500.deal of a puppy off now and make some stuff.

If I could find a deal like that I'd have a plasma cutter. Probably more so I had a "toy" to brag about but I'm sure I'd find some good uses for it.

I've had many times I've needed it and they set the price so I couldn't not get it. :) I'm so happy. No bragging about it other then the price. Time to put it to work.

Is there something like plasma cutter-envy? I'm feeling that all right :)

Congrats and bests:

Gergely
