Chris C
Oh, I know where that is in the .pdf form, Jennifer. Only it's in 5 parts and I've never been able to get #2, #4 or #5 to download.

jlpservicesinc
Your welcome. I had looked at maybe 30 books back in the day and this was one of the books I bought an never regretted it.
Chris C
That's where I tried to download it IFC. 2, 4 and 5 won't download for me.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Try it again, I just looked at all 5 no problem with them for me.
jlpservicesinc
There is a stash of the books here on IFI too. I uploaded like 10 books to a variety of threads here. I think most ended up in the reference section.
Chris C
Okay, IFC, I'll give it a try. Thanks, Jennifer.
Peppie
Made a couple twisting wrenches today. Large one is for 3/4" tendons. The smaller is for 1/2" & 5/8" tendons.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I couldn't find them in the reference section.
jlpservicesinc
I couldn't either.. I wonder what happened to them or where they ended up? Glenn Where did the books that were uploaded as PDF's end up? Peppie, nice work.. How long is the handle on that 3/4" bar?
Peppie
25". Ya think that is long enough to twist 1 1/4" octagonal Damascus billet?
SLAG
Folks, I remember seeing the C.O.S.I.R.A books on an English site. But I'll be darned if I can remember where they were located. Perhaps a U.K. google search would turn it up. Perhaps bamsite has all the titles that folks are looking for. SLAG.

Who'da thunkit? A kingpin being low carbon. Even cold water quench, still soft.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I always make several test tiles from unknown steel to test whether or not they will harden, saves a lot of work.
Rojo Pedro
Needed a nail set for Bonnie’s she-shed project and some other fun
jlpservicesinc
bluerooster some are case hardened. I forged a knife once from one that I did test and it was perfect only after I did all the work that it had hard and soft spots. What temperature did you get it up to before quench? Peppie, Ah yeah that for sure is long enough.. I wasn't sure if you were going to try bending the 3/4" cold..
bluerooster
Got it to non-magnetic, plus a few 100 degrees. Held it there for a bit then into the dunking tank. That process has served me well in the past.
Les L
Great projects everyone. I haven't had much time to spend at the forge lately, but was able to play with some old horseshoes a lady at work brought me so I made her a couple of horseshoe cowboys warming up at the fire and a birdfeeder. DSW HandCraft
I really like the horseshoe cowboys idea. Good job Les L
Virusds
Technically i did this yesterday but i forgot to post it The refractory on my new forge finally finished drying on Friday so i was able to test it out yesterday. It got alot hotter than it did before and i made quick work of a piece of leaf spring into the basic shape of a little 10" Bowie knife that is for my cousin. I still have alot of work to do but it is coming along. Sorry for the crummy picture, it looks WAY better in person.
Les L
Thanks DSW, I can't take credit for the idea another member on IFI posted one where the cowboy is panning for gold. I liked it and modified it to fit my needs. Virusds, good start on the knife.
CrazyGoatLady
Nice Rojo. I especially like the twisted scroll on the hair barrette. Les L. Love the cowboys. I've seen them in all kinds of poses. I should probably try one myself. Virusds, can't wait to see the finished knife. I haven't been to the shop in a few days. Planning on getting some work done tonight

GolFisHunt
A quick hair thingy project for my daughter today. I actually had a plan, made a sketch, and followed a procedure. Not my usual MO.
bluerooster
Les, the cowboys are cool as all get-out. Virusds, Blade is coming along nicely. I like the hair gizmos, I'm gonna have to try one myself. I also enjoy playing with "mystery metal". But in this case, I was sorely dissapointed. I decided to go ahead and finish it, so I spent better part of the day hunting for handle components. Guard is 6061T6, handle is Mahogany, and pommel is a lugnut from a TR7. Still have sanding, and polishing to do, and pin the handle.
