I was thinking of doing some belt buckles then drawing out the stock to about 1 1/2" and doing neckless or earrings.

I would like to attempt a mosiac made up of 1095 and 15n20. The mosiac will be of the logo of my church (an E & F). I am looking for 15n20 in square rod 1/8 to 1/4 inch and the same for the 1095. Any ideas where I can find 15n20 in square rod? I have only found it in sheets. If it is not available any suggestions to replace the 15n20? Thanks William

I replaced the tension spring on my little giant about a year ago and yesterday it broke about 1/2 inch from the right side. I have used the hammer approx 50 hours. I am courious is any one else has had this problem? Thanks William

Susan Rhododendron Leaves are long ovals so if you took thin angle iron and flattened it with the foldthen with a grinder ground out the shape of the half leaf then opened up the fold you would have a nice leaf that would only take some veining to finish. Just a though. William

I have been a line cook, pastry chef (my passion is cooking and trying new flavors) I have a desk job now due to the loss of my right leg I run a office where out of town doctors come to see patients in our small community. I enjoy shooting, fishing, dutch oven catering, real BBQ (build my own smoker out of an old warming oven) some wood work, exploring back roads around Northern AZ, and black smithing trying to make some sellable knives.

James I was given a used keg and I cut to top off but I use mine to boil wort for making beer or making a large batch of chili for mens retreats. Great cooking vessels. Hey Damascus Mike you do not need to melt steel to make cable damacus. the way I learned is: Step one - weld or tie the ends of the cable so the strands will not unravel, weld to a rod for a handle. Step two - heat to red hot and add flux (I use borax) return to forge and when it is at a welding heat twist the cable tighter. Step three - return to forge and when at welding heat weld the cable into a bar by hitting firm but not overly hard. You want to weld the strands togeather not flatten it. When the cable is solid you have a billet to forge into your knife blade, you might need more than one welding heat to do this. Any comments for the other cable welders?

KBAKNIFE where did you get that spring? That has to be one of the biggest I have seen. I though the ones I got from the railroad were big.

I use 20 mule team borax and to make it easier to use I took an old metal salt shaker (like the ones used in resturant kitchens) made the holes a little bigger and made a long metal handle for it. Now I bring the billet out of the forge and I can sprinkle the flux on a lot easier. Just an idea for you guys.

Nice I made my first pair when taking a blacksmithing class still have them and use them but not my favorite thing to do. You did a great job for your first pair, beter than I did and I had a teacher showing me what to do..... LOL
