  1. My wife and I are friends with Ron and Brenda......the blacksmiths on Surviving the Iron Age. The show was produced by the BBC. If you want a copy of the show you could try getting ahold of the BBC directly (http://www.bbc.co.uk/feedback/). I don't know if it's ever been made available on dvd though. I think we still have it on VHS somewhere as we taped it at the time.
  2. Hello JNewman. Thanks for including the link to your website. I mostly deal with Rob at Thak's at the moment, but perhaps you could give a rough idea as to what you carry. Hamilton is just down the road for me.
  3. Just keep at it. I did my very first forgeweld back in the winter. Strangely enough I tried welding rebar as well and wasn't very happy with the results. Since then I've tried forgewelding again and again. I'm still far from perfect, but I tend to think my welds are getting better.
  4. Heard back this morning. The hammer is still for sale and asking price is $3000.00 I've seen it in person and it's a nice piece of equipment. PM me if you're seriously interested. I have permission to pass along contact info.
  5. I'd gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today.
  6. I don't know how many have spotted it. There's been a bit of an update on the OABA site regarding this meeting. There's been an additional post stating that the Mill will have some limited quantity of coke for sale. They're asking 30 cents/lb.......bring your own bags or pails. Not a bad price really since coal from Thak works out to roughly 43 cents/lb.
  7. I know of a Clay Spencer tire hammer out Hamilton way that may be for sale. If you're interested I could make an inquiry for you.
  8. The U.S. seems to be the source for all manner of things. I've been nailed with some wicked duties when ordering out of the States, so I don't even consider that an option anymore.:(
  9. Thanks. I appreciate that. Btw....checked out what I thought was the new TSC store in Milton. It's actually called "VILLAGER by tsc". Nothing like the true TSC store that I've been to (been to the one in Kitchener). Saying that it was disappointing is an understatement.
  10. Congrats! I really do envy you. I have another 27 of being chained to the corporate wheel. (Now there's a depressing thought)
  11. Rockwood isn't THAT far away from me. I've never heard of Wards. Do you have any contact info for them?
  12. Are you talking what I need or what I want? There's a BIG difference between the two......lol! I've managed to find everything I really need at this point. But I'm always on the lookout.
  13. TSC is a good idea. They just bought the old Co-op in Milton. Last I heard they were still doing major renovation and bringing in new stock. I havn't stuck my nose into the store since the change of ownership though. I'll have to go check it out and post my findings.
