  1. Napkin rings cut the pipe in approx. 1.5 to 2 inch widths. Slide the rings over a smaller diam. piece of steel and hammer to give texture. If you cut the copper pipe on diaginal it gives it a different dimention.
  2. Frosty sounds great but I dont have a lathe I use a 3 hole gizmo with long handles. I thread the stock through a piece of 1" pipe and that helps it stay stright (I cut a window in the pipe so I can see how the twist is progressing). Then twist til it looks right and finish. Thanks William

  4. Now I have figured how do do the twists cold I can do 3 sets in a couple of hours.

As for your lst concern I suggest tie downs thoes nice wide ones then put some padding under the strap and she should stay put. William PS Where is Leicester?   10. I did some price shopping and it ranges from $3.45 down to 2.80 a gal. Shop around the cheapest is at a local rental yard.

  12. Welcome from sunny (no I am not lieing about the sun) Arizona. Where we don't know what rain is and it gets hot enought to forge by holding the steel outside (not quite but it feels like it). Show us your forge, sounds kinda like mine a collections of odds and ends.

  15. I agree with Tom. Having been a volunteer firefighter there are regulations on window bars. If some one gets trapped in a fire it may come back and bite you. The idea is great so get the information and go for it.

  17. I do not own one but have worked with one and very pleased can do forge welding in a chili forge. I use one I made and a coal forge but if I need another one I would get one. Gas forges- Chileforge.com William

  19. Welcome Ixion if you need help there are a bunch of qualified people here to help you. Just throw out a question.
  20. Depending on the size of the rivit head I use small round tip punch to go around the outer edge and form petals then texture the center with a sharp punch to look like flowers.
  21. I have a buffalo forge electric blower from the very early 1900's. It still has the oprignal reastate I had to clean it and do some work but it still works.
  22. I was tought to use a reducing fire and work at welding heat. Wrought iron a bunch of iron fibers that will try to come apart if your not keeping the welded/
