  1. Know what ya mean. My new buddy will be 2 tomorrow. Still miss the last one a lot! Think she's spoiled?
  2. I like that!! Looks really well made.
  3. I have a Lakeside anvil which is the one I use the most. My Dad left me a bunch of hatchets that are Keen Cutter brand. He collected them. Did'nt know Keen Cutter was into selling anvils under their name. Interesting!
  4. Yep, that's purty neet!
  5. I have a piece of a hammer in my hand........from around 1968 or so. Doctors left it in there. I would go with what Frosty says or junk em. IMHO
  6. what's the coating on the bucket?
  7. I use a square center punch instead of a round one. Read about it somewhere, prolly on this site. I can see it way better than a round punch mark.
  8. Are oil molecules smaller than water molecules?
  9. WHEN YOU GET YOUR "REAL" ANVIL YOU COULD CUT THAT BLOCK IN HALF AND MAKE 2 STRIKING ANVILS. KEEP ONE AN SELL ONE.
  10. Missal Grain. 70 miles or so southwest of Chicago.$14.00 for a 50 pound bag. The guy selling it is a blacksmith plus he runs the grain elevator. I don't know the "name" of the coal, all I care is it's blacksmith coal and yes, it works fine. He buys it by the semi load and it comes out of Virginia if I recall. Look up Missal Grain and get the number. I have it but don't know if I can post it here.
  11. The plate is 1 inch. I drilled the hole to 3/4 inch and then drifted it to 7/8. Took 2 heats to drift it and a whole lot of sledging. My wife held it for me and helped me get it in and out of the forge. I made the drift from 1 inch square stock. It was pretty much junk when I got done.
