  3. Can't tell from the picture, but would the ring gear from a car flywheel be close?? Just a thought
  4. Pugh, I agree with David. Wait till you get to Brians and use his, then you can make up your mind as to what you want to do. I think he told me his is a 60# er and it worked really well. I know the neighbors don't like it much though!
  5. Where's Ed? I only saw some guy without a beard doin the hammerin!!!! Nice lookin hearts Ed.
  6. NEET! I had an uncle that used to do that stuff as a hobby, used lead for the frames I think.
  7. Neet. Looks like a good all around knife to me.
  8. Got a trip to Brian's back in November and a new hammer and the first four seasons of Sons of Anarchy! Not too bad a Christmas I would say! Plus I met 5 new friends and a couple of neet dogs!
  9. I have watched all of Brian's videos many, many times trying to figure out how he moves metal seemingly so easy. Long before this topic was posted, I finally figured it out. It's the hammer stupid. I could'nt believe how much metal was being moved by the rounding hammer. I had to have one to see for myself, and after driving 1500 miles round trip I finally have one. I called and talked to his wife about getting one, know what she told me, come make one for yourself! So I did. Best decision I ever made. I have probably 10 hammers that will never get used again. Thanks Brian! And Karen and Ed!
  10. I'd sure want to beef up the floor under it!!
  11. Hello. Met my shop teacher back in 1970. He quickly became one of my best friends and I saw him a lot after I got out of school. How he always knew the answers to my questions, I'll never know, and I had a lot of questions. I too think of him often when I pick up a tool.
  12. You might just as well put the flat one on a shelf. You won't be using it! I was at Brian's the day he made yours, same day we made mine! Enjoy, and go spend some time with him, you won't be sorry you did.
  13. I agree with Backwoods, clinker breaker is the way to go. I had mine the other way, the air outlet above the floor of the fire pot and always had to use my poker to keep the air coming thru the fire. Mine was 1 1/2 inches high, it was a 2 inch pipe cap with holes in it. Finally got tired of messing with it and made me one with a clinker breaker. Was well worth the half a day it took to fabricate it.
  14. Thanks. Same to you and yorin.

    First set of tongs

My first pair were "ugly, rough and could still use a lot more work". But you know what, they're still my favorite to use. Keep at it, yer doing good!
  16. Ask yer wife for the money, that's what I do. ( don't always get it)
  17. Watched it tonight. Awesome. Thanks
