  1. I like it. Good job. Don't like the leg tabs for previously stated reasons. You could weld on bigger feet and bolt or stake them down. I put a pritchel hole in mine and use a dial a hole for drifting. I pretty much drift on my striking anvil only.
  2. I guess you found it from wpearson,. Have not been on the computer enuff I guess to respond. Sorry
  3. Sept 22-24 according to a video I watched the other day.?
  4. I think it's just fine the way it is. Sheath?
  5. Sorry for your loss Thomas. The Big Guy musta needed a Master Master Curmudgeon
  6. That's not a scrap pile, it's outdoor storage IMHO.
  7. Probably closer to magnetic. I didn't orient them. Stands are wood so they stay put! I did this so I don't have to walk around one or the other. Which way is the Oort cloud? Might have to try that.
  8. Got 2 anvils, one horn points north, one points south.
  9. Check out Anvilbrand.com. I wouldn't want to say how long they will last using it every day. All I know is mine does'nt get used enough!!!!
  10. What's goin on with it there on the bottom of the hardy?
  11. So, How come we humans aren't raised to be ambidextrous if we expect a horse should be? Just thinking. Had a quarter horse once. Definitely left lead. You wanted him to cut either direction you best be hangin on! He was just as good both ways.
  12. Well, I have 2 anvils. They both get used about the same amount. One is a lakeside which should be a HB or a Trenton with the top plate welded on.(I never did much research on it) The other is my Uncles's that he told me to use and it is a Peter Wright. The Lakeside always shines right up and the Peter Wright does to some extent but not like the other one. As the PW is a heavier anvil, I use it mostly for heavy hammering. Different anvils made from different metals. Rust equals no time to forge, for me that is. The more scale there is means I've actually been able to do something I really enjoy doing!!!!
  13. So, could you pick it up? Did he give it to you?!
  14. Check out Big Dog Forge hydraulic splitter to hydraulic press conversion on you tube. Click here Hope it's all right to mention this.
  15. I thought maybe YOU moved the rock he's standing on just to mess with him!! Hope he can move it back. I gotta check for one of those guys in my shop.
  16. I think by just pulling it out of the scrap pile you started the restoration process ! !
  17. Looks like a Carolina saw. It sure looks like mine other than color. Maybe look them up, I know they have a web site, or did. Mine uses a 3/4 x115 inch blade. Mine has a small air cylinder on it with a valve to control the down force. I don't see one on yours, so like Frosty says it may be coming down too hard. I always cut real slow on mine. If you go to the web site they have parts lists for most all the saws they made. I only use mine for wide thick stuff.
  18. Tools to work on locks, screwdriver, touch hole picks. Spring vise, would be hard to demo though. Flint knappers though I prefer brass. Small ladles for running balls. Patch knives, could knock those out pretty fast from old small files. Traps
  19. I beat on a piece of RR track for 20 odd years till I could afford an anvil. No way mine will ever leave the stump it's on as it's way too valuable to me to treat like a toy. Not to mention ole Murphy hangin around.
  20. That's one lucky boy. He shouldn't have trouble staying warm on cold winter nights!
  21. Nah, wife herds the toys, she herds the wife!
