Jaegers Forge and Foundry
I'm building my propane forge right now so today I just did a bunch of research. I also helped my neighbor replace his lawn mower blade so I could keep it
Frosty
You need to do research BEFORE you start a project. Better still pick a proven set of plans and follow them. Frosty The Lucky.

Welshj
Spent some more time shaping, hand filing, and grinding a blade. Time for heat treat... I'm going too crazy and getting a pretty thin edge before hardening. Wish me luck.

HojPoj
Well JLP, it *is* a rather dull purpose, isn't it? I mean, it just sits there and holds stuff.

ThomasPowers
Friday has started I see. I'm headed down to spend time with my Mother this weekend; so no shop time. She's taking the death of her eldest child hard.
Chris C
No doubt, Thomas. Prayers are with you and your family.

alexandr
The customer sent a photo of the installed chandelier. In the spring I sent to Mineapolis. Today took up another new chandelier. Very big. I make 3 chandeliers at the same time.
LeMarechal
Made another tooling for the treadlehammer. A pair of special toolholding tongs. Here a roundpunch hold by this tongs. Made that roundpunch too today. So you still can see the colours from the heatreatment ...
JHCC
Interesting idea, to have the inside of the jaws rounded to match a swaged tool. I like. I made a metal air curtain for my gas forge, to replace the cardboard and duct tape proof-of-concept version: It’s made of 2” square tube and some bits of pipe, with twenty 3/16” holes across the top: And here it is with the sliding stock support in place: The original version was too close to the forge opening, and I think it was actually blowing the flames back inside. This one is far enough out that you can’t even feel the rising air right at the front of the forge. Further updates once I put it to use. Cannon Cocker
I got the magician assembled and made a set of butcher dies for it. I also got my first hatchet forged and rough ground.

Chris C
Per your suggestion, Frosty, here's my new Flatter. Half inch thick plate, 4"x4" with a twisted handle made from garage door spring.
Frosty
You'll want to round the edges and corners or they'll put cuts in your work. Have you tried it yet? Frosty The Lucky.
bobasaurus
Made this shoe horn as a late Father's Day gift for my dad. Forged from 3/4" mild steel rod, walnut handle.
Chris C
Nope, Frosty, have nothing to try it on yet. Thanks for the tip. But think I'll leave one side sharp and the other rounded so I have an option. Opinion? bobasaurus, that is an absolutely beautiful shoe horn. I'm sure your Dad will really like it.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Great shoe horn, never have I seen better. Most have too short of a handle for me. That one will become a family heirloom for sure.
alexandr
The day was not in vain. I installed a chandelier. Look very brutal.
CrazyGoatLady
Chris, that's a pretty little twist on the handle of your flatter. I don't know how it will work, but you can always modify it to suit your needs. Nice work. bobasaurus, that's about the niceset shoehorn I've ever seen.
