  9. Rounding the edges on an anvil can be a very personal thing ! PER Smith ! from how round you want it 1/8 or 3/8" & where on the anvil !!!!! & how long !!! tapered it also depending on what you forge often on the anvil & of coarse where you stand LOL I would take a disc sander a take off JUST very sharpness of the edge & use for now LIKE Glen said !!! then look @ other smiths anvils & try them out if they let you always ask ! before using ask why they ground theirs that way ? then when you find what works for you THEN copy that pattern :) when I repair weld anvils I tell my customers that they get to round edges the way they want or they can come over & I will help them in doing it STEVE'S Welding & Fab PS---- Pic's are good

  12. well just last week I fix a pto shaft for a farmer with a similar problem what he did I now know HOW he did it I don't LOL he put the pto shaft together 1/3 turn out of sinc it lock up & wouldn't come apart !! he used sledge on the yoke to take apart now shields wont mount in yoke @ all & still stuck My fix was with no shield A 10 ton port a power to push apart & it took most of the 10 tons to force apart ! other Idea is to use a chain come a long -- chain shaft to tractor & a tree or something that will not move ! & slowly pull apart use lots of oil be careful ! pulling it with a tractor is not the best Idea ! come a long is better you may have to cut the shields off ? they only come off when shafts are apart at less JD & others Good luck hopes this helps
  13. LOL Matt CBA should be at least broken it to 3 zones min & this memo is just for us on the coast ! there is northern - central - southern ! Ca to drive the full length of Ca on the coast from north to south is what 1400 miles + or so ? time 24 Hrs + straight most meeting happen from Sacramento down / = central Ca & further south in the big city's yet for the rural northern smiths ?? well 8 + hr drive south will get you to a meet :( yet there the northern smiths Well we are the Jefferson Smith OF Northern Ca & Southerner Or :) ! whats my point well we are hands on ! here in the north ! i am not saying that southern cba is not ! hands on we just have a lot less folks to deal with in the north & that makes hands on easier & yea I know I don't follow well its a thinking outa the box thing DARN !!
