Steel/Chrome ball shaping tool
heavy eqt like a cats use a ball knuckle on the blade to the ram they brake often & must be replaced any place that works on trucks or heavy eqt is a gold mine for odd shape forms to make tools out of & the steel is on the high end cause of what the piece needs to go through in its life

welding rods -- Stoody Rod 1105 or 2110 are what to use, Search IFI for Rod Gunther anvil repair/ welding I used 1105 All the Info you need is there !! I have repaired over 50 anvils this way, NO problems some are still in Heavy use @ a teaching school--- Repaired wow 10 years ago :) aprox there in good shape ! I ck them out once a year when they have a hammer in there I go to & there use by folks that don't know how to use an anvil right yet daily that says something about Rod Gunther way to fix an anvil !!!! STEVE'S Welding PS-- Hard face & Stainless rods ** WRONG !!! do you're homework !! its in the anvil page somewhere !! #2 if you can't get stoody there then call them talk to the rod tech I did & get Info on 1105 & try & match it with something on you're side of the pond

How many people here spin metal, would like to learn to spin metal or would like to discuss the process?
Ok got a ?? is there a certain rpm you should shoot for to spin ? if so what is it ?? I have thought about spinning over the years cause few do it, I will need to make the tools no problem have a welding shop my lathe is a Large !! La Bond 24" swing 10' table only thing is the new back gear for low low speed work is on the shelf witch means a total tear down of lathe to put it in, that needs to be done someday but other things are more important Unless theres a need or use for it that makes money I can run a lathe but in no way will I call myself a machinist ! there is no machine work here anymore :( so the lathe sits :( its way to good a machine to junk & hard to move lol also have a mill that sits

Ground clamps?
Here's a trick I weld a stainless 3/8 x3/4 bolt to the top of an old pair of vice grips for a grounding clamp works good *** NOTE *** only thing is if welding on something that you move into the shop & take out when done like a trailer or somthing remember to take ground clamp off !!! OR you will see you're welder follow the trailer out the door LOL  I have seen this twice @ the Old mans shop pulled the old heavy Lincoln welder right off the top of the fringe it sits on 5' drop to concrete floor ouch ! Hay its a Lincoln & keeps on welding he's done it twice I know of lol
