  1. are you sure rotor is cast Iron ?? use a cutting torch an test if it cuts its steel or if it melts its cast then you know what you have ? then you can test rods 7018 /stainless/ nirod/ mig there are many more to try :)
  2. PS the friend of mine has that hammer & the hose's of the valve are tired they look like wire warped Hyd hose with 4 hose clamp per hose about 1-1/2 ID by 4" + have to look ALSO air adjust valve is not balanced right we have not fix this yet -- though hammer work well
  3. if this is a say ha ?? there dvd on running an fixing / tuning these hammers out there a I know of a few around here -- nice hammer !
  4. looks like the ones Tom Clark use to sell Say Ha ?? now called say mark ??
  5. I do this all the time when fixing/repair welding anvils you need use of a 9" good grinder a 9" GOOD Cone -dished- grinding wheel flexovit sp-? is a good one also a flat wheel & sanding pad for finshing med & very fine and about an 1-1/2 hr of time and have at it I can grind an anvil almost as good as a mill and way better than you need for an anvil you can ask any of the 30 + anvils I have repaired for folks HO yes the machine is ALOT easier lol don't have one:(
  6. Hay Mike ? what about teflon supply for that ? lumber mill sup
  7. arftist I like the Idea of the lead mold to ck gear thanks ! steve,s welding I am glad I do'nt repair gears offen there alot of work to do right !!!
  8. PS I do believe that torch is for AC not propane ?? propane takes another kind of tip ac torch tips are not the same as propane tips on any kind of torch ! Steve.s Welding & Blacksmithing :)
  9. HeronMoon where in northern Ca are you ? Crescent City here on you're meco torch sounds like an adjustment problem with regulators I have a Hemrod torch much like the meco and have also have used the meco some. On the hemrod you use the large tip to adjust youre regulator PSI like this adjust both ac/ox reg's to 0 psi then you turn ac on torch full on ! Now turn ac tank reg adjuster on slowly untill ac flame stops smoking then you turn on ox reg untill you get a 5/8 long clean flame just like any victor torch flame now if done right the ac & ox regs are putting out about 3 psi each witch is what the Hemrob needs to work right ! --- I think you have the same problim with you're torch ck the book on adjusting the regulators ?
  10. plug in leads are handy you can use them on anything and are not tied to welder also if you have to leave welder & worry about the scrap price on you're new leads you can take them with you I have around 400' worth here @ the shop on other welders & running out of shop to eqt work area if needed for portable welding they can be put together there is a small and a large type and one company's will not work with another's OFTEN so watch for that and ck connection's
  11. Welding is a hands on job you don't get it out of a book ! Till later so try anything ! and learn from how it welded or didn't watch the puddleand see what it does as for AC buss box 6011 is a good rod / called a farmer rod does allot--you need to learn what rods work with what projects / metalsdown the road :) if you want to learn to arc weld 6010 will teach you !if you can run / weld with 6010 you will not have a problem with most rods !remember some rods run /weld on AC some on DC- or DC+ & always run a test weld when you don't know metal or what rod will work ! Steve's Welding
  12. we will see after hot steel gets to close this cost skin and cash--safety FIRST its easier !
  13. labor & materials cost depend on the job it can go either way that is something hard to say best thing to do if you can is make one then you know what it take,s to do the job if you can ? and wright it down that helps the next time you do something close as to cutting re-bar get a 14" GOOD cut off saw you will need one anyhow working with steel--I have had good !! luck with millwalkee tools bad sp I use all the time in my welding shop it never has a nice easy day !! years later it still runs cost about 160.00 or so
  14. TreeHouse l repair anvil,s often @ my welding shop done over 30 now and lost count I use 110-18 on base & Stoudy 1105 arc rods haven't had a return yet :)
  15. I would like to Thank anyone with any info on any kind of PH ! I have on site and working Anyang #33 & in the works a #65 champion Mark why what was the problem ? & yes I had problems with oiler or I should say the one way valve on top of oiler and the one that go's in to the hammer, that needs to be fixed ! / replaced with something better, not a big deal If you ? it take it off PH and blow through it both ways if it works both ways its junk should ONLY go one way ! / oil flow in to hammer Again Thanks for Info :)
  16. PS also interesting is that most folks have a warm up problem time wise ?? I have yet had this problem on new 1 year old #33 yet
  17. Larrynjr That link to Graham Manufacturing is no longer in Biss The owner Bob Graham pasted away late last year He was the only sale's man for USA that I know of ? Someone needs to talk to Anyang about PH sale's and Part's in the USA there's alot of anyang's out there
  18. tarttoclip do you have a home page www on that spec page for that hammer ?
  19. for my welding table I paint it with CHEAP spray can primer that take's care of mig spatter problem--now bepending on you're welder you now have a grounding problem to table just clean a small area for grounding or what I have is a short ground lead hook to the table so I can ground something set on a piece of plywood let say a alluim head I don't want to arc though the table lead also handy work just next to the table
  20. this go's for anyone that use any type of gas AC/OX-Propane-Argon-CO2 or whatever soap test for safety & cost of leaks from one end to the next end that mean's ALL fitting & hoses & regulators also the tank valve and seal I can't tell you how many bad leaking tank valve's I have turned back to the supplyer just take's a scrach in the brass seal and you lose $ or is un-safe SO CK IT !! I do & every tank change and ck all hose's @ lest twice a year or more PS--this info come's from a full time weld/smith shop Be safe
  21. Hay Bob what kind of cast rod did you use ? maker and No# ? please I do cast Iron welding every so offen to Steve's welding
  22. this is not my favorite way to fix a gear tooth but it works ! take's time ! you need to hand file to from or use air tools to get you close then hand file with Tig you have more control on what youre doing this job can't be done half way you need to ck gear mesh over and OVER ! DO IT RIGHT you DON"T want to DO it over !!! take youre time with MIG you have less control over heat & build up of metal KEEP IT CLEAN LOL
