  1. We won't remember this once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show it.
  2. A side blast JABOD forge is less complicated than a brake drum bottom blast and more versatile (less picky) in the fuel used. the side blast will use lump charcoal, coal, coke, and just about anything you can light off. You can change the shape of the fire pot at will. The box in the first picture screams to me side blast forge. BTW... Welcome, I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. 3. A slipjoint knife is one that uses a spring to hold the blade open or closed but does not lock the blade open. Think a common pocket knife, although rhitee93 makes knives that are anything but common more like Royalty. This video explains it pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clvoYnLMCLU
  4. Looking at the picture that shows the top looking down, sort of looks like the angle iron has been hammered in on the sides. Might try prying it out a little. Your Trenton looks like a great anvil. Hope you have read about not doing any grinding, milling or welding on the hardened face.
  5. I think it tells ya in this thread, which I always recommend to new folks. READ THIS FIRST If the instructions are not there it's pretty easy. When you are in the editor where you type words, look down and see a paper clip Drag files here to attach, or chose files. Pictures stored on your device can be added there. Just be sure to resize them by double clicking on the picture after its been placed into the post, a pop up box will appear. I use 500 for the width and tab over for the height which will take care of itself. You can edit the post for 30 min and do the same by douple clicking the picture.
  6. I'm sure you will succeed in getting it off, even if you have to get a bigger hammer. The number under the horn is the serial number. I bet someone with a copy of Anvils in America will be along to tell ya when it was made. Here is a hint for getting the best out of the insanity. READ THIS FIRST
  7. What Stash said... BTW Welcome to IFI You might want to edit your post to reduce the size of the pictures. You have 30 min to edit. Just double click on the pictures and a pop up appears to select the size on the width 500 is good then tab and the height takes care of itself.
  8. Welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST If you edit your profile to show your location we won't dunn ya for it when an answer requires knowing that.
  9. I love it when the appointments I have scheduled are moved up. It eliminates the stewing/worry from my mind. Good to hear you are doing well and itching to get back to the forge.
  10. Welcome to IFI Zig... It would help to know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. This thread will be a big help in getting the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST

Have you looked at the Show me your anvil stands thread?https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/51596-show-me-your-anvil-stands/ Where are you looking? If you edit your profile to show your location we wouldn't have to ask. This thread will help you get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST

  13. Not knowing where in the world you are located, it's hard to put a value on them, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show your location.
  14. Welcome to IFI... Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST It will help you get the best out of the forum. I suspect your thread will be moved to the proper subforum for furnaces.
  15. I would cut it down to 31 inches square and add 4 locking wheels to the legs to be able to roll it where I wanted. If you don't want a square table make it 31X27 inches. As far as the rust I would use rust removal chemicals like 10% vinegar, or commercial rust remover like Evap-O-Rust or Naval Jelly. Not sure what's available in your location. If you know someone who has a sandblaster that would work too.
  16. Like JHCC said if the ring & rebound is good it's a good one with a hardened face. Around here at that price it won't last long on the market. BTW if you edit your profile to show location, we won't have to guess or dunn you for it when required to give an accurate answer.
  17. Hence the suggestion to edit ones profile to show their location here... READ THIS FIRST
  18. Another reason I like my Vulcan is a friend of mine who has more experience (in years forging) than I, scoffed at my anvil when he first saw the shop. He said something like Oh it's a Vulcan. Over the years I always out produced him when we would get together in the shop with him using his PW.
  19. It's so quiet I don't need hearing protection, has a nice face except for one chip from a missed blow by a prior owner. It was my first anvil that I've gotten used to over the past 30+ years and I've more hardy tools that fit it.
  20. Hopefully all of our fur kids who have passed over the Rainbow Bridge will be there to greet me. My father passed at the age of 54 from a massive heart attack in '75 way too early.
  21. My 110 pound Vulcan sees more hot steel than my 106 pound Hay Budden.
