  1. Welcome Corey, we love pictures of anvils, I suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  2. I would think hot bluing would ruin the insulation of a mug like a Yeti. A lot of answers are directed to the other members who look at a particular post/thread, not just to the question asked.
  3. We used a flexible plastic spatula like body shops use to apply Bondo. It worked both for the Satanite and bubble alumina we used.
  4. The three feet on a stump is an interesting idea, good on concrete floors. At ESSA we made small steel wedges to make the stumps solid but they were all the time getting lost when the anvils were moved around.
  5. Any time I go to a new forum, it's a learning curve. Can't tell how many warnings I got when I started posting on a traditional muzzleloading forum. Too bad it didn't have a thread like this. READ THIS FIRST Would have made life much easier for me.
  6. When you say you're from South Georgia, is that the country in the Caucasus (Europe) or the state in the USA?
  7. We won't remember that once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. READ THIS FIRST Pictures will help. You say A&W did you mean A&H. Someone with a copy of Anvils in America will probably weigh in, what did you want to know about it.
  8. No how big a hammer you use, you can't pound common sense into some people.
  9. As long as the ring & rebound are good, I would say it's worth it at $2.18 U.S. per pound.
  10. Welcome to IFI Solari69, have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST If you edit your profile to show your location, you may be surprised how many members are near you. Where about in Mass are you? If you are lucky Jjlpservicesinc is close
  11. I was hoping for the same thing with posting the "Read This First" link all the time. That hasn't seemed to happen though.
  12. I know you have been around for a while but, have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST I second what pnut & Chris have posted. Your side blast wash tub forge will probably be ok for a while but for the kiln you will want to line it with Kaowool ridigized (at least 2 inches) and use a refractory like Satanite or Kast-O-Lite 30 (available from this forum). The kiln needs insulation. https://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/257-insulation-and-refractories/ If you haven't yet mixed up the fire clay mix, just eliminate the cement and it will be adobe which will work better. If you have already used the cement mix just replace it with adobe when it falls apart. I noticed that the picture you posted is from Tim's post about building the forge.
  13. If you google the name on the name plate you will get quite a few hits about it. Looks like a good forge. I watched one video review and it was positive. Probably will need some sort of doors to close off the open ends and a coat of Kast-o-Lite 30 & plastix to finish it off. Running both burners wide open probably will be a gas hog but it's set up to run just one burner. All in All I think ya done good.
  14. Welcome to IFI... Can't help with the furnace, but this will help you get the best out of the forum for sure. READ THIS FIRST Pictures of your furnace might help.
  15. A good read for those interested. The Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths. https://blacksmithscompany.co.uk/history/
  16. All of the tools we take to meetings/demos are marked with MInion duct tape.
  17. Is that where you are from? Like Frosty said, if you edit your profile to show your location, we won't have to guess when an answer requires knowing your location. Welcome to ifi... Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST
  18. Welcome to IFI Kyle... I always suggest this thread to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST As Thomas said location is important to value, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show it.
  19. A bigger tank will help. I started with a 20lb tank and had similar problems. When I switched to my 115 gallon they went away.
  20. That is your major problem. There is not enough surface area for the liquid propane to turn into a gas fast enough at high pressures. Putting the tank in water will help with freeze up only.
  21. You can hook worm drive hose clamps together to make a clamp as big as needed.
