good idea topic has been split off as "temp and color" in heat treat, general
looking good mike. things are always more interesting to put back together than taking them apart. looking forward to getting those pretty white walls dirty  get any snow out there yet

yesterday i had to cut a piece of 1 5/16 round stock. when i put it in the vise on the bandsaw i couldnt get it tight enough and it kept spinning. i cut a piece of old inner tube and wrapped the stock with it and then clamped in vise. it held nicely and i was able to complete the cut.
it is an axle off of some type machine. when i was a kid we used them all the time to stake out critters on a chain. chain had a big loop on one end and the axle was slide through it then driven into ground with sledge hammer. nothing ever pulled them out.
well right off the bat, my wife accused me of watching ballet because of the sound track
was a very interesting video. i really liked how there was no wasted motion there, every movement had a reason and if was just great to watch.
Teebs,
The possibilities are endless. Use the shoes as if they were just a piece of iron and heat and hammer any way you want them. you can make candle holders, hoof picks, shoe horns, just about anything
