  1. Thanks Nodebt. You should do. It was fun and easy to do. I am going to try some more when time permits
  2. Thought I would add a picture of the backside
  3. I didn’t anneal it at all. I only had about 30 minutes on it and put my plumbers torch to it at the end to try to flame color it with disappointing results as shown. Thanks
  4. Thanks fellas. yes repousse. I watched a video and wanted to try it. After I made the heart, I got the brainstorm to make a sculpture with it. Took about 4 hours total but I am a rookie
  5. Thanks Das. I just used an old stump for dishing and my anvil. It was a pain to keep from moving around. I will clamp it down next time I may make a pitch bowl if I want to pursue this. It sure was fun to do and surprisingly easy
  6. I watched a couple videos by Thak ironworks and thought it looks like fun and gave it a 30 minute try. Was fun and I want to do more I call him “sleepy joe”
  7. Go slow. You can always add more radius later. I left my square horn sharp and have various radii on the rest
  8. I would like to see what drives it. I’d get it but I don’t have 220v in my shop
  9. Very nicely done Justin. Looks like it has good control and big hit. Nice and quiet too
  10. Nice. ! Chesty would be proud. Wherever he is. :-) Semper fi from this old 0331
  11. Thanks Micheal. Built it my self after forging under those trees for a year. The posts are on concrete footings and post anchors. You can see one if you zoom in under the forge I do get some water in the forge when it rains real hard, 3-4 times a year
  12. My outdoor space. Nice right now but hot as hades in the summer.
  13. I use mine a lot and then dream of a screw press...
  14. I made a nail header out of a RR spring clip, a slot punch from a S7 pharmaceutical pin punch and a square punch from a car spring. All to make one wonky nail. (Ran out of time) the RR clip is some tough stuff and made the S7 pin seem easy to forge. I did not heat treat the slot punch but it worked perfectly to punch the handle end with no deformation at all and a lot of heats to get through the clip. I drilled the nail hole before punching square. Still need to put some files to it as the nail got a little stuck but not bad
  15. I suggest Kens tong blanks. Pretty easy to make a good first pair and then your off to the races. Kens tongs saved me a bunch of time as a beginner
  16. I have been playing with MG as well I have a 32 coin billet (cut and stacked) just waiting on a jewelers saw to get here to play some more :-)
  17. Thanks JLP. I really like the shape of the offset horn. Would love to forge on a big anvil with that style horn. Looks very useful
  18. Austrian 7kg from Oldworld anvils. Forged on it a bit and it works real well. Early birthday present
  19. Thanks and chim, a guillotine tool using both fuller and butcher dies
  20. Here is closer look at the break. Does anyone know how the handle is attached to the upper screw? I am thinking it is threaded but haven't tried yet. still researching repair options
