  1. Super cool. Are those medium carbon and is it very springy? Cant wait to see the results
  2. Got all afternoon in the forge and had a really good day. Made a trivet, bottle opener and my “hook of the week” plus straightened some coil spring and rr clip for future tools and some other stuff The trivet isn't perfect but I am super happy that I was able to do all this in one session. I feel like I have advanced from beginner to a more intermediate smith.
  3. Just wow! Really like the thru tang side knife Very good work
  4. Curved cold chisel Inspired by a Black Bear Forge video. Coil spring quenched in oil and tempered back to straw. Got it right for there is no deformation at all. Very happy with heat treat. Finally figuring it out
  5. I built a washtub forge based on Tims design 4 years ago and used it for around 8 months before I got a rivet coal forge. It worked very well but air flow was my biggest obstacle. ( I used a hair dryer with home made waste gate) I was always adjusting the air based on amount of fuel and other conditions but it worked very well, was very inexpensive and a great learning tool. It was the hook that got this fish on the forging line - thanks Tim !
  6. That is one fine looking anvil !
  7. Playing with different materials... knife blank from leaf spring, ugly hook from a connecting rod, little hook from 1/4” mild, bend fork from half of a RR clip (tough stuff), kiridashi knife form same RR clip (quenched in oil and very hard), knife shape test from large wrought iron leaf spring, little leaf from WI rr spike (after 2 fails), tiny leaf from ss, start of a copper fish, thanks for looking
  8. Present for my sil. I am pretty happy with it
  9. Time does fly, one quirk with this anvil is that the face is dead flat along the face... but is a bit concave across the face... it took awhile to notice but now I use it to my advantage and is very useful
  10. Not sure but I think there are 2 Peddinghaus branded anvils Pieh tool carries the peddinghaus, supposedly dropped forged in the same foundry as kanca anvils -
  11. Well its been a year and I have absolutely no regrets. Check out this short video Not much to complain about. I love the shapes on the horn and its hardness. It rebounds my 1” ball bearing 90% on the second bounce! the cons would be that the hardy hole is slightly under 1” and the horn is fairly blunt but I have overcome both issues no problemo. Bottom line: I love this anvil!
  12. That is the same can I am using in my forge. I forge under cover but with open sides. It holds a lot of hammers, respirator, gloves and even my cordless grinder. Not ideal but works
  13. Thanks for the pictures LBS, and for this thread too wow CGL ! that opener is super cool. What is it made of?
  14. I got a stand up desk about a year ago and love it. Some times I forget to sit and spend most if my time standing. Good move
  15. Needed a nail set for Bonnie’s she-shed project and some other fun
  16. Dont know what you are building but that is a monster footing!
  17. If it were mine, I would take a flap disc to it very lightly and put a small radius on only the damaged parts Over all thats a pretty nice looking anvil as is.
  18. Finished my first ever tongs. Not pretty and a little sticky but work well for what I needed and I am real happy with them
