  1. Scotty trying to chill that big brain (not really, he dumb)
  2. No time lately but did spend a couple hours chasing. I dont think it is repouse because I use no pitch just go back and forth on my sand bag. Going real well until I split the end of his nose. Oh well, so I thought I would try some flame color. I think he turned out good regardless of his broken nose.
  3. That looks so rough that if it were mine, I would grind it a bit make it something more useable. It was a bargain after all and there may be some good steel under there. I would at least put a flap disc to it. Just me though...
  4. There are other gears on the lathe. I got the screw running and all seems good. I know it is not much more than a toy as far lathes go but thats why I got it , to play with. I am super happy with it so far but it needs a solid mount
  5. Craftsman Dunlap 6” lathe. Has gears and tools. Complete and true enough to turn a brass nipple and I have no idea what I'm doing. Best part: $125
  6. Fun with copper and steel. Just wrapped up some Christmas presents. You are right George, I need a rivet setter.
  7. Thanks. Here is a prototype little ladle. Used commercial 1/8” rivets on this one. Think it turned out pretty good Only thing not thrilled with is the other side rivets. Will make a little shorter next time
  8. Have not done a lot of forging lately but yesterday I made a lantern hook… also made an impromptu rivet header and some copper rivets out of some bonding wire. It took a few tries to get it down…. also raised some .065” copper for an upcoming ladle. thanks for looking
  9. Nice. I think it looks like some ones mushroom induced refrigerator buddy.
  10. It would go for around $4 a pound in So. Az. Prices seems to have softened lately and they dont seem to move as fast. Forged in Fire craziness may be waning.
  11. Dave we always round to the .01' but you have to keep that in mind, 2" =.16666667'. Staking buildings are typically where you have to pay attention. I convert from meter to feet quite a bit as some NGS data and Arizona state plane coordinates are metric but the plans are international feet (as opposed to US survey feet) Always use .3408 exactly. Use 3.28080339 and you could cost your boss $1.5 million. Dont ask how I know (not my bust but profit sharing took a hit)
  12. I get the best of both worlds, decimal feet. Every civil engineer and architect knows that 1.26'=1' 3-1\8"
  13. I have hardened many tools made with 1040 and they get quite hard. Never tried a thin section like a knife though. might be something else like improper temp or procedure, maybe de-carb. ?
  14. That's a cool inner tube puck John. I could see being useful in several sizes and even shaping or rounding the top. I am interested to hear how you like it.
  15. Kanca makes a post vise. Forged steel I believe. John Switzer did a review of one if I recall.
  16. I had a coup!e suits from the FCC visit the job site and made me shut down my GPS base. We had to update our old and now restricted frequency range. Thought it weird because this unit didn't transmit more than a mile or 2 and they discovered it somehow. Was in town so I figured it something to do with aircraft
  17. Me not knowing anything, would try to split a tube or fold a thin bar then flatten it before curving after which I would open it back up. Could that work?
  18. I love the flowers John. Nice to see something other than roses. Very nice
  19. Nice candle stick. I have been using my welder a lot more lately and want to try one now.
  20. Nice. What does the other style leaf look like?
  21. Thank you Scott. I feel likewise about your talent. Your stuff has the flair I feel mine is missing at times
