  2. I dont think I am going to cut it yet. My old tractor seat fits perfect :-)
  3. Now thats a spring!! 1’ diameter, 3’ long, 1-3/16” thick. Local scrap yard, 80 pounds at .35 cent per pound. Couldn't say no wonder what its from and what its made of.??? They cut up a lot of big equipment there including monster mining gear
  4. Didnt have much time. Worked on my tongs. Almost there, I am looking to make a pair to hold very small round tapers got a little thin near my finger. Will see how they work out BBC started with 5/8”. Lots of pounding fun
  5. Started my first ever tongs and made a pendant. not real happy with either but I had a lot of fun forging in the rain

  7. It has been a month since I could light the forge. Came home early and made a couple hearts for my valentine.

  10. OMG! Yup, you need a shop not sorry to say its going to be 75 today but at least you are forging. I will have no time for awhile :-(

    Tong repair

    Mr Beef I am no expert but I would think that steel tongs would be stronger if welded versus brazed but look forward to discussion.
  12. Made a pencil sharpener and screw in hook from the same spring. Hardened the sharpener and drew to dark straw but its not very hard. Did a bunch of other stuff and had a fun 4 hours at the forge
  13. Nice anvil Steven. Amazing condition! I wonder if the stamping was done by a previous owner who added the weight. Plus the “cast steel” is questionable to me. ??

  16. Love the chisel JLP, might be my next project nice tongs LBS really clean forging Mr. Jungle - not sure how you are going to to paint kastolite. Less water is best IMO good luck Das. Car problems suck and take valuable forging time. I am jonesing after a Couple weeks of no forging :-(
  17. First broach and a failed first attempt repurposed. Plus the start of a ball punch from 3/4” coil spring
  18. Cotton spindles make excellent survey monuments when pounded in pavement -fyi
