Fe-Wood Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Wow, Thats interesting! I went to reduce the picture size and ended up with double posts, Sorry- Great Forges here all! I'm amazed at the diversity, complexity and simplicity of all your forges. It furthers my belief that there are as many ways to do something as there are people trying to do them. My first forge started as a 55gl drum and an old porcelain wet bar sink with a perforated plate as the grate. I used a Champion Blower (same one I'm using now on the forge in the picture). I wish I had a picture... It was pretty funky but it worked well. The first picture is one I copied from Brian Brazeal. I wanted an easy portable forge for demo's and clinics. This works great! Thanks Brian!!!! The next one is one I found on a road trip. I'm going to rebuild it. Quote
Beeko Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I had it laser cut...(on my laser).... Laser Cutter??? In here we call it a "Car". Quote

Pug}{maN Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Cookie sheet? That's brilliant x 10!! What's the hammer on your hip? I'm a CZ man, personally, when I'm not a 1911 guy. As best as I can tell it's one of the last P220's made before Sig switched to the new style with the integrated Picatinny rail under the barrel. The grips are kinda special, too. If you do an image search for P220 those grips are hard to find. Quote
royce unruh Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 to see my forge check out this link its not like any i have seen anywhere on this site yet but i guess i havent looked around much eitherhttp://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/28012-my-coal-forge/ Quote

Sakadt Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Here is my Forge, nothing crazy just a 401, that I mounted on the dolly and lined. Than I mounted a small shelf and tool rack on the back as well. Quote

JustinJ1982 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Newbie smith here. This is my first forge. I picked it up for $200 the day I was going to just start building my own because I could never find one. Its a Champion but I don't know what model. My coal is coming in this week so it should be fired up soon. Quote
Jeff Lodge Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Finally got the time to complete the build with the blower stand and forge table for my drum forge setup. The base of the table is an old server rack that I attached some wood planks to and then I found an old stainless steel door at the scrap yard to hold the coal. I added the wheels from a donor lawn mower so I can move it around with ease. I am still able to use the adjustable height on the wheels so I can level the table out once it's in place. I took the tractor supply exhaust flap idea and used it on my ash dump as well. Now I just need to get some time to use it! I think all together I might have 20 to 30$ in on the table and 50$ for the blower. Quote
royce unruh Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 since i had a topic about my forge on ifi i didnt know for sure if i should post here or not i think i will though there are holes in the four in pipe under the firebox i tried to get a pic of them but doesnt look like it turnud out so good Quote

grufty Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 hi this is my re-enactment forge medieval to ww2. the bellows were made by William Alldays & son Birmingham England in 1884. i'm 99% sure the leather is original. Quote
webbcityglassman Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 this was made from a cultivating disk, i use a dimmer switch and a leaf blower and burn coke in it. Quote
Frosty Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 A hair drier will serve you much better than a leaf blower. A dimmer switch is likely to burn the leaf blower motor out pretty quickly. I believe induction motors need a cycle limiter rather than a dimmer. Whatever you do DON'T take my word for things electrical, I hire a specialist to wrangle electrons. All the above aside. it's a darned good looking forge. Well done. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
