  1. In that case, like I do is ask my wife. Our Skutt kiln said it's so simple even a ten year old can do it, trouble was I don't know any ten year olds.
  2. Welcome Daniel, the above quote says what I always recommend, along with recommending this thread. READ THIS FIRST
  3. You can order supplies right here too.https://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/254-gas-forge-refractories-and-supplies/
  4. Welcome to IFI... Can't help with the electrical connection, but this will help you Get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  5. You might PM stormcrow here to see if he would tell you his treatment
  6. Yep, Caddyshack with Chevy Chase what a classic. http://mentalfloss.com/article/58494/15-fun-facts-about-caddyshack
  7. Can you forge a heavier hinge or two hinges one on each side of the arm?
  8. I'm guessing from your screen name, you are somewhere in the UK. If you edit your profile to show your location, you may be surprised how many Brits are near enough to visit and offer advice and help. Sound proofing the shop would go a long way in reducing the sound heard by the neighbor. Are there any regulations about noise in your location?
  9. Also if you edit your profile to show your location, you may be surprised how many members are near you, that would be willing to visit and give you a hand on it.
  10. I too can see what looks like the Trenton diamond when blowing up the picture. At that weight it will do anything asked of it.
  11. When in the edit section double click on the picture and a pop up will open that lets you resize. I usually use 500 for the width and tab over and it will select the height to keep the picture from distorting.
  12. I'd say that little guy weighed close to 70 pounds before the heel was broken off. BTW you really need to edit this post and reduce the size of the pictures. Large pictures eat up band width/data and we have many members who have to depend on dial up internet (pictures take forever to load) or pay extra for data.
  13. On one of the knife forums Storm Crow gave an excellent method on heat treating/tempering 5160 steel in a "back yard" setup. I've tried it and it works. As far as tiller tines, I have a bunch and have made knives out of several. I treated them like 5160 and they came out great. Sorry no pictures as I gave them away 5 or 6 years ago and as far as I know they are still in use .
  14. What Thomas said, however in lieu of a jug a small funnel will work, just be careful not to over fill the bowl.
  15. Welcome to IFI Saint 5150... Where in the world are you located? What fuel are you proposing to use? Have you read this? READ THIS FIRST
  16. House Handle is in Cassville MO on hwy 76-86 just down the way from Walmart.
  17. We still don't know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. READ THIS FIRST
  18. In the picture with the hammered dulcimer in the fore ground, to the left of it is an antique coal oil lamp filling jug. Makes the job easier.
  19. That's a great 250 pound sawmakers anvil indeed, looks like it was hardly used. You be lucky dog you. I always chuckle at the handle they put on them, like someone will pick that monster up one handed.
  20. I use my Vulcan to shape the hardy shanks, but only over the sweet spot never to hot fit the shank in the hardy hole. That final shaping is done with an angle grinder.
  21. This is one of my favorites of the flat wick lamps. Made by P&A Risdon Lamp Co. Danbury CT., around the late 1800s brass font & brackets. P&A is the Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Co. They made many different lamps under a lot of patents, including the Aladdin brass burners from 1869 till 1955, when the Waterbury factory was destroyed by Hurricane Connie flooding.
  22. As long as the kitty liter is unscented without additives to make it clump it's good to go.
  23. Welcome Zach, I always recommend this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST Look into the anvils subsection and read the sticky threads for help on locating a used anvil. TPAAAT will probably help you find one, depending where in the world you are located. This thread will be especially helpful. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/48369-anvils-a-beginner-buyers-guide/
  24. If you make a section to go in where the missing piece is, it can be made to slide down with brackets, so it's easy to take off for long stock.
