  1. Very handy setup! Easy to beef up if you get some thicker plate like you wanted as well. If it even needs it.
  2. Thanks Avadon, I knew I shoulda added in this picture.
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACKSMITH-DAYTON-HELVE-trip-hammer-power-hammer-watch-the-video-/150889029818?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2321afe0ba
  4. I believe so, they have not been on their site since around the beginning of this year.
  5. Looks like it will clean up nice
  6. Not yet, the current control is about done being tweaked then it will all go one one circuit board that we will send off to be made. Maybe a couple weeks then it will be in my shop for actual blacksmith testing! I will be building a water cooler for it then too, right now its just got the water hose hooked to it, works great but will be nicer to have a contained cooler. Played with a crucible some, pretty fun, worked great. Not sure how many of these we will be able to build, wont be a large scale type thing. Once this one is in my shop I will add lots of videos and pictures for those interested. If anyone is interested in a future trade for one of these induction heaters once they are completed, feel free to pm me, I would be looking to trade for certain tools, power hammers, press, anvils, maybe some other shop type tools.
  7. Thats gonna be awesome!
  8. Its hard for me to like many of the rr spike creations but you did really well, I can see some good potential in your work, keep at it!
  9. I love the knife in the 3rd pic, great work on all of them!
  10. Such a beast! After a month of anticipation you better not forget about us, :) We want videos of that thing!! Did you ever build that 1million btu forge for these hammers? Is that still the plan?
  11. Looks like a lot of scale too, are you using borax as a flux for your forge welding? The metal in the 3rd pic looks pretty thin.
  12. Who thinks you cant forge weld in a gas forge? People have been doing it for a long time. And heat is heat, it will burn up your metal the same no mater what the fuel source. What psi were you running at? I run mine at 6-12psi usually, have had no reason to get anywhere near 30psi yet. The higher psi you go the more fuel you burn = more heat, try keeping it as low as you can to get what you need for forge welding. p.s. I'll give someone a dollar if they can find someone who doesn't mention knives in one of their first 5 posts, lol.
  13. Thanks, ya I do need to set an alarm up in there. Winters can be anything, last year was a warm one, but the year before was a blizzard and sometimes we get ice storms. Im not sure what I will do for heat yet but having the induction heater as a forge will let me keep the doors shut and use some type of shop heater.
  14. its for sale again http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blacksmith-Power-Hammer-Pneumatic-250-lbs-Anvil-little-ram-trenton-giant-VIDEO-/110936402068?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D1404971279367570502%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26
  15. Craigslist, eBay, estate sales, flea markets, just start looking for big chunks of steel, you'll find something eventually.
  16. Just to clear up the ventilation stuff, I don't plan on using the a/c unit when the forge is going, wouldn't do any good, all the doors will be open, fans going ect.. The a/c is for when I'm not using the propane, I have other things I will be doing other than smithing out there.
  17. Yes I have 2 gable vents on the north side and an automatic vent with a fan mounted behind it on the south side just above where the forge is, the fan is rated for 1900sq/f. I am also going to build a heat shield for behind the forge with a fan on the ground blowing up to help vent, also the doors will be open. I do want to do some type of rain catching especially along the back side to help with drainage, I'll let you know when the veggies are ready to pick. :)
  18. Oh I don't know, dont have much to offer right now. Maybe when I get all my tools set up better, vices, workbench, all that.
  19. By "Finish" I mean the outside, the inside will always have new things going on I'm sure. Started this back in may of this year, finished today, August 15. The roof and 4-5inch deep concrete slab are 15x30ft with the building being 24ft so that gives me a covered porch if i want to work outside and it creates a loft inside I can use for storage. Fully electrified with 220, small a/c unit framed into back wall that cools it off nice and will be nice to work in a cool area using the induction heater as a forge. Now I can forge again! I hate doing siding and soffit.... Deep spot(about 7in) for any future power hammers. looks slanted, its not though :) Done!
