  7. Not too much new the the forge, just sourcing parts needed and other planning. Found some good prices/suppliers on parts, might be ordering 76,000 coupling transformer cores lol... My brother is starting to work on a Kickstarter project for this as well, hopefully that goes well. There are lots of "maker" type items that do really well, small cnc machines, 3d printers and such. Still not sure where this forge project will end up... fun so far though.

  9. Thanks for the info ptree. I have definitely been planning for safety with the hydraulics, hard tube, sheet metal barriers and the kill switch(I also have kill switch for my whole shop). I would like to have the hydraulics(and an air compressor) behind a wall even for just the sound barrier, but that wouldn't work for me. I was planning on building a sound dampening box to put over it, like the ones for generators, that would also keep it protected. I'm using induction as well so no open fires should be safer.

  12. Thanks for the info. Ya Im pretty new to this still, only really started learning in January this year, I thought those anvils had a cast body with steel face plate welded to the top, oh well, more learning for me.
  13. Thanks! I was planning on doing some type of protective covering when I start building the press, those look simpler than what I was thinking.
  14. Nice addition! Your axes are my favorite, If I ever get around to doing any kind of blade work I want to make a few small axes/hatchets. Yes you should name it :)
  15. Might be peter wright.. maybe trenton? The body of it is cast, the top plate(whats left of it) was high quality steel that was welded to the body. I dont know that repairing it would be worth the time...
  16. Thanks for the tip, I will look for the proper blades for the larger stuff. I had a been cutting a lot of 1/2" and smaller so I just had more of the 18 tooth blades.

  18. Im just using a 4x6 bandsaw now, 18 raker blades. Im right by the grizzly showroom and have been looking at their larger ones, the G0561. If i can find a good deal on a used one that fits what I need when I really start looking that would be fine. I dont cut too much right now but early next year I'll be needing a better cutting system.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Looks like a bigger bandsaw is going to be what ill look for, the steel supplier I go to uses a few large ones. OA is a little too messy for what i want. Power hammer with nipper might be an option, I would be using a hydraulic press though, so id just make the nippers for it. Ive melted bars in half easy with the induction forge, going to play with calibrating one with a super thin coil to cut some different sizes.
