April 19, 20179 yr Lavender horse bowie and autumn kitchen knife Waterjet and then forged 5160 spring steel with integral guard. Autumn leaves and lavender cast into the handle window. Also part of the series is a ram and boar's head, so keep an eye out for those coming up soon Let me know what yall think, Theo
April 19, 20179 yr Theo, You never cease to amaze with some really innovative blades. Those are really cool. The dark side of me is thinking a skull and cross bones pommel with a halloween store severed finger and droplets of blood in the resin handle...... Ooh, I find dried up bugs while disassembling cars all the time. Some insects in a resin handle would be cool....yeah, what you are doing is unlimited on awesome design. Pump em out before someone steals the design. Keep up the awesome work.
April 19, 20179 yr Yes, very nicely done.. How does the acrylic hold up? I'm guessing you are using acrylic... Are you hardening the complete knife including the handle?
April 20, 20179 yr Author Thank you all! The handle material is alumilite, cast in 4 sessions. Loving the bug idea
April 23, 20179 yr Author I've been on a waterjet binge, making all sorts of wacky handles, some even wilder ones are to come!
April 23, 20179 yr Uh, 3D printer, casting set up, water jet. I admire your access to fun tools almost as much as what you do with them. Beautiful if kind of whacky as usual. Waiting for the next installment as always. Frosty The Lucky.

If you are going to do that how about some 45 colt shells in the handle with the bullets in the blade as part of a canister Damascus? Just need to find someone who reloads that would spare a few round parts and pieces
April 24, 20179 yr I sometimes use center fire brass, prefire the primers by heat under a plate so they do not fly into an eye, then seat them like for reloading. You can fire .22 brass with heat also, then you do not end up with the dent in the rim, pull the bullet first of course and set up so they don't end up in your eye.

A lead bullet in the middle of a blade would be one heck of a weak spot, even if it did survive heat treatment.

Good point... shotgun shell and steel shot it is then or I suppose you could also invert and use steel casings in the blade and suspend the lead bullets in the handle too hmmm...

If Theo could figure out a way to put the casing at one end of the handle, the bullet at the other end, and a trail of bubbles in between, that would be pretty cool.
April 24, 20179 yr Oooh, I LIKE that idea JHCC. A .50 cal casing in the handle with a bullet etching near the tip and a blast in the middle.

April 25, 20179 yr Author wow guys, these are some pretty nifty ideas... hope yall don't mind me stealing them
April 25, 20179 yr I really like the horse head. Stylized but accurate, makes me think Scythian for some reason.
April 25, 20179 yr Theo, use what you can. I'm pretty sure we just wanna see it. keep up the awesome work. it is both fun to see and inspirational to others.
April 25, 20179 yr I'm pretty sure everyone wants you to steal every idea you'd like to so that we get to keep seeing the pictures. It's a little Christmas morning every time I see a new Theo post waiting to see what fun will be found inside.
April 25, 20179 yr Hey, if you took a broken mechanical watch and scattered all the parts throughout the handle, I could see that having a lot of appeal to the "steampunk" crowd.
April 25, 20179 yr 50 cal makes for a fat handle; now if you could get some saturday night specials to add into a can weld with high C then the small caliber shells would work well---my Grandfather used to have one that fired 22 *short*!
