I forget how big Axle is and was amazed at how big the squirrel in the first pic is, the second pic adjusted the perspective.

Our current brace of dogs are very different, Baxter the old man at 13 has virtually no prey drive, I was dumping garbage into the can on the porch when a mouse spooked and ran. Right under Baxter's nose and with the lightning reflexes of a dachshund he stepped back out of it's way.

The girl, Rhonda now 4yro is a relentless tracker, hunter and if we let her killer. She gets on a scent and she will not stop unless one of us takes her in the house, RV, or. Earlier today I watched Ronnie drag Deb around following a scent, probably one of the bunnies we've started seeing again.

People are always buying hutches and rabbits around here and after a short time the kid loses interest they turn them loose and rabbits do what rabbits do. I've started keeping my pellet rifle in the mudroom so the sound of a .22 rifle won't scare the doxies.

I LOVE me some hasenpfeffer! Mmmmmm.

It's funny but Axle was what started this thread about pets. I posted in "It followed me home" when we first got him and Glenn contacted me and said he would like to start a new thread about pets. So Axle is the first picture in this thread when he just a baby.

Laying in the shade with occasional dips in the pond is a good way for black short hair dogs to handle hot weather. I did a quick check and it looks like St. Petersburg is getting high 70s to mid 80s f. Too hot for me!

I'm so happy and proud to be able to be able to post in this thread!!

This is Paz. He's an 8-week-old Hungarian Vizsla pup and so his name is a reference to the Star Wars/Mandalorian character "Paz Vizsla".

He's gorgeous but he's VERY loud if there's not a member of the family within his line of sight at all times!! :wacko:

Lots of work, training and cuddles ahead!

Cheers,

Jono.

Congrats Hefty. What a cute baby.

From the size of his feet, I'd say he will be a big boy. I love the look he is giving the camera. All the work and training will be worth it, as I have heard they are very loyal dogs. Please keep us posted as he grows and progresses.

I have heard this breed refered to as a velcro dog, seems the name is accurate.

Oh yeah. He's already great at heeling, simply because he doesn't like to be further than that away from anyone!

Oh Paz is a BEAUTIFUL boy! Wonderful dogs, Vizslas. Most dogs don't like their people leaving them alone, their place is with you. Some breeds more than others of course but some make no secret of what they think. Heck, our dachshunds got loud enough to hear clearly several hundred yards away from inside the RV last week. Sooooo, we took them with us everywhere on a lead so as not to annoy other campers.

I can't begin to tell you how much you'll love having Paz on your heels. I pity folks who don't share their lives with a dog.

My little old man he's a border collie Australian shepherd mix (we think)

He's about 15 and still going strong

Hard to see him clearly in a backlit picture. Two of my favorite breeds in one. Cross breeds typically have longer healthier lives. The term is "hybrid vigor."

You forgot to tell us his name or do you call him, "Little Old Man?" I've known pets with unique names, usually named by a young child, unusual feature or trait. My favorite was a cat named, "Swimmy Boots."

This is a better picture from my latest road trip his name is buddy

Definitely happy to hear about that hybrid vigor it seems to be holding true for him

Buddy's expression is saying to me, "He's making me wear it in PUBLIC! I better get a meat treat this time!"

Wife found a little boy hiding under the cars in a car park. He is getting along with the boy without a tail, other cats just tolerate him.

The universal cat distribution system got around to me.   Just brought him home yesterday after he decided to adopt me on Tuesday.   Meet Alskar the Vandal.

The Puppy went out today and wallowed in something stinky. Here she is sulking after the bath. 1000002329(Copy).jpg.e7471738f4a99c300d99037f7863891e.jpg

She looks properly contrite right now. It's no accident I've been calling dogs, "stinky," since the 60s. Whether they smell bad or not, every last one is just waiting for the chance.

Oh I don't know, I've seen expressions like that on dogs before. She might be thinking along the lines of. 'Give ME a bath! Just wait, I'll give the inside of your shoe a bath soon as you're asleep!'

Actually that's more a cat trick but I've know dogs. . .

Frosty The Lucky.

At least your dog is small, when our Catahula hound rolls in stinky, it's a real chore to give him a bath. I usually have to spray him down with the hose. Sometimes in warm weather he will get in his pool.
