March 18, 20242 yr Das, I was enlisted, so I like to give officers plenty of grief. Just good-natured smack-talking, as is tradition.
March 23, 20242 yr George I know I'm a bit late to this chunk of the thread, but you reminded me of something about my dad. He served over there. Two tours with about a year in between. If I recall correctly he got back to the states in Mid to late 1970 so you might not have crossed paths. He was in Intelligence, I don't know exactly what unit, but I wish I did. I think he was a Captain at the time. When he got back he made Major, Was stationed in DC for a few years, and went to CGSC and then Fort Devens, but then he retired. Thank you for your service sir
March 23, 20242 yr Paul, if he is gone you may be able to access his service records through the VA. I don't think we ever crossed paths. We were all trying to do our best at a very difficult job in impossible circumstances. GNM
March 25, 20242 yr Dad didn't talk too much about his time over there. Most of what he did discuss was his time spent basically on a base and in a bunker. I gather that he told my older brother more than he told me. I was a baby and my brother is 12 years my senior, so he would have been at that age to ask questions. I understand that he told my brother something that highlighted some of the dangers and mom overheard. She was evidently kind of ticked that he hadn't told her
April 20, 20242 yr We adopted a Labrador retriever girl from the shelter. Winter is not going to go away, 2 days ago green grass began to appear and now there is snow and frost again. 20 April. Only dogs enjoy this weather.
April 21, 20242 yr Thank you Alex. Older dogs rarely have a chance once they hit the shelter, it can be a miserable frightened last couple weeks. I salute everybody who adopts older dogs and heck any shelter pet. One of my best dogs ever, Bolo was at least 4 when I got him. He'd been handed around in a village up north and an old friend rescued him but couldn't get anyone to take him for good so I did. Bolo was so grateful to have a place more than a week he would do anything I asked. Great dog. I got all carried away talking about gold panning in the other thread and forgot to say how much I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of the railing you just started in the stairwell. June 21, 20241 yr And the beautiful young lady likes fast cars! Give her a good ear scritchin for me please. Frosty The Lucky.
June 22, 20241 yr Looks like she loves to play with Hot Wheels too. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus

I wasn't home when the picture was taking but my daughter told me she was pushing the cars around with her nose.
June 22, 20241 yr It's funny what dogs will choose for toys or personal possessions isn't it? Ronnie our girl doxy chooses anything Baxter the old man doxy has. Frosty The Lucky.
June 24, 20241 yr Some times I think I am her favorite toy. She loves to chase me and vice versa. If I wont play she will pull at my hand or just get in my face and stare at me.
June 24, 20241 yr An old friend of mine had a white Staffordshire Terrier name Diesel and when he wanted to play he'd pull you off the couch or chair by a pants leg if you wouldn't. He only grabbed a pants leg once when one of the guys was walking and put him on his face. The face full of dirt and bloody nose about broke Diesel's heart. He stuck to the victim like glue trying to make up for it. I miss Diesel, he was one of a kind special. Frosty The Lucky.

We were playing and she scratched my eye, not intentional and my fault. She was after a toy and was pawing at it and got the bottomn of my eye lid. I got mad and told her to go lay down, again I know this was my fault and i over reacted. Well after she was laying there for a minute I looked and she had 1 paw layed on her snout and her eyes were watery. Maybe coincidence, but either way I felt bad and apologized then she was fine.
June 27, 20241 yr Boxers are very sensitive as are pit bulls, a harsh word is often as bad as a beating to them. Provided of course you raise and treat them well. Frosty The Lucky.
June 28, 20241 yr O yes she is sensitive and exceptionally sweetand lovey, she knows what we need when we are down or sick. We socialized her early and took her to training. She is our first family dog and probably the best dog I have ever had.
June 28, 20241 yr Early socializing and basic obedience training is the secret. Something I noticed while Deb was working at and for a dog training facility was how much a dog's people learned at obedience classes. We've gone through obedience training with every dog we've had since. I've only known a few boxers and liked them all but it's hard to miss how effective they can be at protecting their people. July 3, 20241 yr It occurs to me that I have not shared in a while. We have a couple of relative newcomers I might not have mentioned. The cat tree has Freddy (orange tabby with white) He is our senior cat and is now around 13 The pure white cat is Trixie and the white and grey tabby is Jesse. The second pic is of Gabby, AKA Mr. Murder Mittens. He kind of came with the house as a resident outdoor cat, but we brought him inside after he got hurt, we suppose after getting into a fight with a big dog, or possible some sort of dinosaur...He's huge. Weighs nearly 20 lbs and used to bring me dead things as a present. Edited July 3, 20241 yr by Paul TIKI didn't finish typing...derp
July 3, 20241 yr Paul, it looks like you have the minimum number of cats to properly supervise you between more important things like naps, food, play, etc.. Actually, the term is "snoopervise." G
July 3, 20241 yr Nice clowder you have there Paul, the tree cats have that cat look that says "there better be something in it for waking me up!" Are you properly grateful to Mr. Murder Mits for accepting you to His territory? We moved all our cats indoors when we gave up the livestock and didn't need barn cats. They used to bring us barn vermin pretty regularly and leave them on the front door mat. We always had to look before stepping out. I don't know what cats "think?" but I think they bring trophies to show how good they are at the job of killing everything smaller than they are. I love cats, they are all such interesting characters. Please give your cats an ear scratching for me and double for Mr. Murder Mits. Frosty The Lucky.
July 3, 20241 yr Axle just now brought us a rather large pack rat that I think he caught out under my truck. He was reluctant to turn it over though, so he got a lot of praises and a couple of his favorite treats in exchange for it. Couldn't get a picture of this time but here is one from 4 years ago when he was the champion squirrel hunter. He has a lot of grey hair in his muzzle now. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
July 4, 20241 yr Here he is today after giving up his prize. Can't believe he is 6 years old, time is fun when you're having flies. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
