Glenn
Here it is October 1 and we have less than 90 days to get the Christmas Gifts built for this year. There are lots of ideas in the forum and about 20,000 images in the gallery to use as source material. No excuses this year, as there is still time if you head for the shop today, To those that say they can only work on the weekends, well you have 12. Use them wisely, that is to say do not miss a chance to go to the forge and light a fire. So, What are you going to make as Christmas gifts this year? Chinobi
I have had drawings in my book for almost two years now to make a Mokume Gane ash tray for my father in law, and have expanded the project to be for 4 members of my wife's extended family overseas. there are 3 Saturday open forge opportunities in LA between now and then, and a handful during the week that I MIGHT entertain driving out for. so as much as I want to make this happen this year I cant guarantee it :'(
intrex
There are going to be quite a few bottle openers and cork screws made. I am planning to make a drifted collar necklace for my wife as worn by Daenerys Targarean in game of thrones. I just have to find a dress that will match the necklace now. Smithy.Travis
My father is very much in love with trains, both model and real life. So for him I'm thinking of making a railroad spike slingshot. (he already has an old knife I made him) As for my Mother I am very much indeed stumped... Not a clue as to what to make or buy her. The rest of my extended family will get an array of both bottleopeners, corkscrews and other trinkets for the younger generation. But, any ideas of to make for me mum would much appreciated. ~Travis

HJP
a spray of Australian Bloodwood, a Eucalyptus tree, which has beautyful red flowers would look very nice as well.
JimsShip
I like the sling shot idea, but I wonder if using a RR spike would be too may be a bit heavy for my soon to be 7 year old. Please post a pic when you finish it!

Being unmarried but having been in a pretty long relationship once (2 years), you're braver than I. If she wanted nice clothes, she got gift cards.... Smithy.Travis
A rose sounds perfect for her! I'll have to look up how to cut and form one from copper but I think it will be great! ~Travis
intrex
Hey Jacobd, I am a little bit worried about the idea for the wife but I think it will be a winer if I can pull it off. I will end up buying her something as well just in case the mideveal dress doesnt' work out :).

jacobd
I always kept the receipts. The gifts I usually actually picked myself were either CD's or the like, big ones were precious metals.
SpankySmith
I don't have a photo but made some nice, simple napkin rings this weekend, I thought they'd make really nice gifts in sets of 4, maybe pre-wrapped around some nice cloth napkins. Just a thought. We girls do love our kitchen/dining stuff!
Damion78
We do an arts and crafts gift exchange in my family, we all make our gifts for Christmas so this hobby is perfect. I plan to make a simple twisted wine bottle stand.
Chinobi
Gotta clean it up a little more and probably going to need to solder down some bad welds, then hammer it out flatter and a bit wider before I can start dishing :)

tomfromuk
So here is one of my home made Christmas presents, not sure if its for my Dad or my brother yet. Its like the 3rd thing I've ever forged so its a little rough around the edges but that does give it some character. Tom
sfDuck
I can't find the picture right now but two forks with the tines that fit inside each other to lift that big turkey out of the roast pan. Mine were 1/2 in. sq. stock with twists and tendrels that wrap around the handles .
EricJergensen
Gave this to my family as an early present along with a ring mandrel my brother gave us. 17yo daughter spent the rest of the day forging rings from 3/16" stock.
