  1. There is a power converter to take 110v down to 12v. I have several Powermax units that I use for different applications.
  2. You might want to review this section. https://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/151-knife-class-reference-material/
  3. I would think the cutting edges for road graders vs snow plows would have different properties, due to the speed in which they are used. Like anvil I have a bunch of road grader blade in my resource stock and have no problems with forging, cutting or grinding on them. My coal forge has legs made out of a blade split in half length wise and it welded up just fine.
  4. Click on the links in the read this first thread, they deal with things like quoting the post 's. Quoting the post just before yours is frowned upon and usually edited out by Mod's.
  5. Welcome to IFI, I suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  6. Welcome to IFI, I suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST It is a common thing to have coal fumes back up in to the tuyere & piping when the blower is turned off. Then the gas ignites (called a backfire) when turned back on. A picture or two would help in figuring out a fix for you.
  7. Same here, so I googled it. Good grief it can have many meanings. That's why I hate acronyms.
  8. Looks good, hope you are wearing hearing protection when running it. My wife came out of her chair, when the video started, she thought my computer was self destructing.
  9. Very very nice. May I make a suggestion about posting pictures, which we love. Because we have folks that have to rely on dial up or pay for bandwidth, it is suggested to edit the size of pictures so they load faster. I usually use 500x375 for a size.
  10. You might want to resize your pictures to a lot smaller. The reason being we have members world wide who have to depend upun dial up or pay for bandwidth. The easiest way to resize is to double click on the picture when it is posted and a dialog box opens up, most recommended sizes are 500x375. You have a half hour to edit your posts.
  11. Done... Good job on the fuller and hot punch. I like your handle, all of my small punches are held by a pair of small rivet tongs with a clip.
  12. Welcome to IFI, I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  13. I believe some of his video's are on You Tube, a google search should find them.
  14. To me it looks like the face of the anvil was welded up, then milled (edges are too perfect) and an area of the weld let go under use. I would stay away from it unless the price was about $1.00 U.S. per pound. If that's the case (welding) other areas of the face might suffer the same fate.
  15. I would just be repeating what others have posted, so I'll suggest reading this for how to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST In order to give you the best answers it's helpful to know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. Click on the links in that thread for other helpful information and read the sticky threads in the sections of the forum that interest you. Don't get offended if some of your threads get moved to the most appropriate sections, we all started out posting in the wrong section. Most of all have fun in your new pursuit of hammering hot steel.
  16. Welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST It addresses things like editing your profile to show your location, quoting and resizing pictures etc.
  17. Yep, Duracraft makes some good equipment. My metal cutting H/V bandsaw is a Duracraft and still going strong after 40 some years.
  18. I agree with the Mousehole clone. Should be a very good anvil, provided the ring & rebound are good.
  19. We won't remember that once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. That way every one of your posts will show it and we won't dunn ya for it. I see JHCC beat me to that. A picture like that of the other side will help too and we love pictures.
