  2. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST It will help you get the best out of the forum, that way you can reserve the luck for working with hot & sharp objects.

  4. Welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST anvil pretty much covered the question.
  5. Gotta pay attention to old guys because they know stuff you would never thought of. ~ Me
  6. My grandfather taught me about that decades ago. I was trying to get a stuck piston out of an engine I was rebuilding. Tapping on it with a wooden mallet wasn't working. He had me put some heat with a hair dryer around the outside of the cylinder then after it was warmed up, put ice cubes inside the piston. I thought ya right he has lost his mind but in about 30 seconds the piston fell out. Gotta pay attention to old guys because they know stuff you would never thought of.
  7. Maybe a drawing of the concept, but I can't think of why it wouldn't work.
  8. Not sure but it looks like a wolf howling at the full moon.
  9. I remember the thread about your RR anvil and it looks like a good one. What problems have you run into using it?
  10. Since they list new for $1145.00 US, I would say it's worth it if the cutting blades are in good shape.
  11. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST It will help you get the best out of the forum. Reading Burners 101 and Forges 101 will put you on the road to make a successful forge for heating steel to hammer on. Don't know about the deep fryer in the kitchen though, sounds risky to me.
  12. The Red Oaks here smell pretty bad too, sorta like vomit.
  13. If you are near a river or creek with clay banks you can use the clay from there. Or you can pick up some cheap kitty litter, read the contents should say bentonite clay with no deodorant. Mix it with some water to make a stiff batch mixed with a little sand. If you have a pottery supply near you, pick up some fire clay. Any of those will work. Not knowing where you are located that's about the best I can do. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST
  14. You're little Schnauzer looks like it's ready for spring.
  15. Just the thought of shrinking those tires onto the 7 foot rims gives me the shivers.
  16. I noticed that but the Cop in me is always skeptical when doing detective work.
  17. Instead of ITC-100, I would use Plistix or metrikote. Good advice.
  18. We still don't know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion in Read This First to edit your profile to include location. The worth of an anvil is directly dependent upon where it's located. BTW: It does appear to be in perfect condition.
  19. Das, I don't have a musicale bone in my body, however your guitars really sing to me. That goes for the critters too, I love em all.
  20. JHCC built a very good side blast forge, might want to take a look.
  21. Some pictures would help, your nearly perfect and someone else's may not agree. Beside that we love pictures as long as they are not too large. BTW welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  22. To be honest, I've been reading Charles's postings and my eyes saw Shills but my mind read Skills.
