  1. A Google search brought up several places that have them, also called duck bill tongs. They are easy to make though. Posting links to commercial sites is not allowed though.
  2. It translates from Slovenian to English as Blacksmith Village. I would love to see it in Slovenian too (The home of my ancestors). He has a good thread in introduce Yourself.

A picture of the underside of the base may help with identification. In the pictures it's hard to see the writing due to reflective glare. A picture from a little farther away may help too.

  11. It's also in his earlier book "The Modern Blacksmith" available as a free PDF, a Google search should find it, I got mine from archive.org. "The Complete Modern Blacksmith" is available on Amazon cheap (under $20) or as a Kindle download.
  12. Another way is to mount the leg in concrete. Our shop vise had the leg cut off to mount it lower for striking. We wanted it at a higher height and as it was mounted on a stump embedded in concrete, I made the form higher so the leg is held tight. Has worked for 30 years now.

  15. Get it HOT and Hit it, and learn from there. Different degrees of Hot, and different amounts of Hit, it's in there somewhere, you just have to find it. ~ John B

There are many threads on repairing/restoring anvils.

  20. Heat the lug nut or other stock and with a punch/drift open it up till it fits snug, it will shrink into a tight fit as it cools.
  21. Yes buttering involves spritzing clean water on the insulation to moisten it.
