  1. Along with the propane bottle, which would last about ten minutes with a 3/4 inch burner.
  2. I remember where I've seen them on Amazon, mostly good reviews too.
  3. I would probably mount it a little farther away, just to be safe. Is that one of the blowers made in Russia, I've seen some good reviews about them. Now that I think about it those were hand crank blowers.
  4. Welcome, we won't remember this once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location and so many answers depend on knowing that. This thread will help in getting the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST

  7. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee or too much single mault, but this has me befuddled. Is it a local thing? Can you elaborate a little on that. 8. Don't ya know, the older we get the faster the time flies. Sorta like a roll of toilet paper.
  9. If you are up for more reading, use your favorite search engine like google and do a search like this without the quote marks "Kanca anvil site:iforgeiron.com" . Do that for all three you are considering and you will see many threads about them (some of the older threads will have lost pictures though) still good reading.

  11. With a 1 hp I would go with the smallest motor pulley like an inch or inch & a half.
  12. That should get it going but it will stall out if too much pressure is applied when grinding. Just to work out the bugs, if you have the motor on hand it should be ok depending on the pulley ratio.

  17. Nope you are not the only one. That's why our forge is held to the cart by a tray with one wing nut & bolt, also makes it easy to take the forge off the cart for whatever.
  18. Welcome aboard, sounds like you are off to a good start.
  19. Welcome aboard Cas037... have you read this yet? It will help you in getting the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST In some countries it is illegal to even own a carry knife. I have a friend from France who says it's illegal to carry a butter knife.
  20. Like Thomas said, where the top plates were joined shouldn't be a problem, I've read where the hardened face plates were forge welded on in sections and yours has plenty of working surface over the sweet spot of the anvil.
  21. I got mine from a heavy truck mechanic, he gave me a large used bearing that the balls are 1 inch (or actually 0.942) that I cut apart and as a bonus I got the races to forge into knives.
  22. Yep, it should be easy to raise the anvil to wrist height by adding sand to the pail which will give you more working room around the horn & tail too.
  23. Okiepan, The first thing I would do is to check the area behind the fan. It is a prime place for mice and mud dobbers to build nests. Then the next thing is to take the gear cover off and soak the insides with kerosene or a 50/50 mixture of Dexron I or II automatic transmission fluid and acetone overnight. Then gingerly try and rotate the gears and crank. Do all of that before taking it apart any further because nine times out of ten gunk is the problem. BTW: Did you even attempt to look for an answer? This post is just 6 below yours. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/65463-blower-gears-stuck/
