I just mounted my first real anvil. I thought I read somewhere that the black paint needs to be removed from the top and sides of the horn before use. Is that correct or will using it just burn it off? If I need to remove it can I just use 80-120 grit sandpaper? Thanks Kurt

Thanks guys. I think it is close enough if I caulk. Chasing that slight wobble by sanding may make it worse. So caulk and clamp it is Kurt

I just purchased my first real anvil. I built a wood stand. But there is the slightest wobble between the stand and the anvil. 1 I could sand the top of the stand to try for a better fit but it would be hard. 2. I could put caulk between the stand and anvil. 3. I could cut a piece of plywood to put between the anvil and stand. I am planning on securing the anvil with angle iron clamps. Any advice? thanks kurt
