  1. The oldest known item is my Mousehole anvil from the early 1800's (I use it).
  2. @EricJergensen: Ok, I think I see what you were talking about. I didn't notice at first that the firepot low sides were actually below table height.
  3. Try reversing the way you have the vacuum mounted in your bucket. I believe it is pulling air in from the side in the bucket and through the motor. Just cut the tape, flip it around and tape it back up. Try it, and if I am wrong, you're only out five minutes and a bit of tape.
  4. "Yeah James. I need to order an Aggression done up like the sniper one you made... no I'm not a sniper... no sir, not even in the military. Yessir, I read where you posted you were only taking orders from certain groups, and I qualify. ... Yessir, I'm a volunteer firefighter. ... Why do I need a combat knife you ask?... well, that one looks like it could chop through a door like a fire axe... " Not sure that convo would work out that well. LOL
  5. Thomas: He's posted that he isn't taking orders right now except from first responders, police and active duty military... he's got too many on backlog for the rest of us to get in line right now.
  6. I was wondering about the 'sand' too... maybe it is sand... I swear I've seen posts on here mentioning sand being used for flux. Hopefully someone with actual knowledge about commercial forging will enlighten us.
  7. I'm half tempted to try to re-enter the service, just so I can order one of his "Aggression " knives.
  8. I love the "little" hammer. My favorite scene of it was the almost imperceptable impact when they stamped the finished ring. Just cool that the thing could be so gentle after seeing it's power. My favorite image was the big hammer with the light beams coming from behind. Thanks for sharing this.
  9. I suggest checking out James (Stormcrow) Helm's videos on youtube of him making a knife with Gunnhilda. He explains how he uses his die set to do the drawing out and tapering in one.
  10. Eric S. : When you find that last ingredient... if you have any extra left over please pass it my way. I too need more of it to finish some of my projects. :)
  11. Building on SJS' comment about elmoleaf's openers being made more "dragony"; chisel/punch in some details on the handle loop to make it look more like a tail. I just worry that the really sharp looking lower jaw would be likely to chip the bottle edge.
  12. 1 week. Awesome delivery time. I can understand a "little" bit of concern over not having viable contact numbers. Hope she works great for you and am eagerly awaiting pictures.
  13. I CAN WELD! Lol... I managed a forge-weld last weekend. Started what I hope to be a PW billet worth making a blade from. Welded half a broken Nicholson file to a piece of A36. The weld seems solid. the piece so far is about 1 1/8" wide by 5/16" thick and about 6" long. I ran out of propane while flattening and prepping for the first cut and restack. I'm currently working out of state, due to head back home late Saturday the 13th... maybe I'll refill my tank and try to pick up where I left off.
  14. Absolutely beautiful. The carving and leatherwork are great too. Overall gorgeous piece of work. Congratulations to you and Petr.
  15. Thank you esseeman. I found it in a closet in the house my wife inherited from her grandparents.
  16. Using a 3/4" Frosty t-burner, I get welding heat around 7 psi as well. It's in a small cylinder forge... about 190 cubic inches of space. Inch and a half of kaowool.
  17. @EricJergensen: I think you're overlookin the cutouts in his angle-iron side rails front and back. That leaves him able to lay long stock level through the fire at the low-sides of the firepot. @BigDrew: Wasn't sure whether you were having an issue with them digging into soft ground or gravel which would mean wider wheels would help, or rough ground leeping it from rolling easy which would mean that larger wheel diameter would help. Was just cirious.
  18. May I inquire as to the reason it matters if the bottom of the hole is flat?
  19. Nice looking forge. 1:you can make easy slip on side rails 2:looks like it wouldn't be too hard to replace the wheels... is the problem the diameter or width?
  20. Also must add to the NOT bored tally. Planning on trying to do something mokume before too long, just got my first propane forge to an operational state, so now need to find time to enjoy it.
  21. Glad to read in your reply post that it does have guards for the stone and wire wheel. Probably still a good idea to replace the stone with a fresh new one. Better safe than sorry kind of thing. Definitely should fabricate and install a belt guard before you use it. Awesome find there. Good luck with getting it going and be sure to share pictures of it.
  22. I'm in process of gathering the materials to build one... as an attachment for my pipe threading machine. My own idea twisting the designs of others... hopefully it will work.
  23. Well I'm almost finished building my first propane forge (well, first if you don't count the soup-can forge). I already have three other tools in varying stages of progress... a 2x72 belt grinder, pneumatic power hammer and a rolling mill. I really need a welder to finish the last two.
