Witness Marks…thoughts….

My Anvil, Can you please elaborate? I have practicing squares lately and assume they might be here? Thanks -
A bit late here but looks real good. I really like the texture of the quail background. I have a sand filled leather bag that I use a bit and some stakes as noted. You might dress your hammer and tools some to reduce the marks. Keep at it. I want to do more but always find that I would rather spend my time forging. I wish the wife would let me do it in front of the tv at night.

To me it looks like a rasp for aluminum with the tang removed and a holder added. The pliers look like some type of crimping device. Just wild guessing but I have a rasp like that and was told it may be for shaping aluminium.

What did you do in the shop today?

Not today but over the last several weeks. I try to make one every time I forge and we give them away alot but am starting to get some inventory. the bottom 2 are made of 3/16” garage door spring which I know is overkill but I like to use it as I seem to get a better finish and uniformity over mild and I have a bunch. thanks for looking -

My is not not nearly as elegant and wont work upside down but I like it. Made from 3/8” so little small. Plus another little S hook which I like making and give them all away. Lots of fun thanks for looking. -

Very useful looking hammer John. Nice work every one, its cool to see all the roses. I made another s hook and the start of a display stand for a piece of fused glass art out of some 1/4” x 1/“2. The corners aren't perfect but they are right were I wanted and my plan worked so Im super happy with it. thanks for looking -

Very nice work all. Love the hose holders. I wanted to try some architectural forging for a future furniture build so I started with a 1” x 1/2” bar and made a bend. I then made a 1/2” tenon from some 5/8” square bar. Plus a 1/2” drift from some coil spring. Real happy with it considering I used no power tools and have no monkey tool. The only thing I dont like is the end of the tenon. Lots of fun. thanks for looking -
Awesome Mothman. Well done

Nice one Chad. Sweet axe Jobtiel. I made a key ring hook from a piece of 2” angle. I added a little decoration and it turned out pretty good thanks for looking -

Super nice fork Billy. Most impressive. Its been a few weeks but got home early enough to make a couple hooks. I am really happy with the square corner. Was fun and hope to get at lease one more session this weekend (wifes out of town) thanks for looking -

You have a great scrap yard Thomas. Around here they want .50-.99 cents a pound for iron. -

Nice work everyone. Really like the key rack Ted. Scaled up in size and it would make a pot hanger -

Nice one Jobtiel -
Yes make a bick, one of the things I dont like about mine is the blunt horn. I trimmed mine up a bit but there is a lot of material to remove so I made this bick. Plus it was fun

For me silicon worked perfect. I wrapped a chain and put on a few magnets but it was glueing to the base that made all the difference.

French Anvil Identification
Rojo Pedro replied to Kid B's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
Bart, what do you mean by long cool curve on one side? Are the horns asymmetrical? Can you share an image? I really like the looks of the French anvils
