  1. Very useful looking hammer John. Nice work every one, its cool to see all the roses. I made another s hook and the start of a display stand for a piece of fused glass art out of some 1/4” x 1/“2. The corners aren't perfect but they are right were I wanted and my plan worked so Im super happy with it. thanks for looking
  2. Very nice work all. Love the hose holders. I wanted to try some architectural forging for a future furniture build so I started with a 1” x 1/2” bar and made a bend. I then made a 1/2” tenon from some 5/8” square bar. Plus a 1/2” drift from some coil spring. Real happy with it considering I used no power tools and have no monkey tool. The only thing I dont like is the end of the tenon. Lots of fun. thanks for looking
  3. Nice one Chad. Sweet axe Jobtiel. I made a key ring hook from a piece of 2” angle. I added a little decoration and it turned out pretty good thanks for looking
  4. Super nice fork Billy. Most impressive. Its been a few weeks but got home early enough to make a couple hooks. I am really happy with the square corner. Was fun and hope to get at lease one more session this weekend (wifes out of town) thanks for looking
  5. You have a great scrap yard Thomas. Around here they want .50-.99 cents a pound for iron.
  6. Nice work everyone. Really like the key rack Ted. Scaled up in size and it would make a pot hanger
  7. My local scrap yard is at .49 per pound but they have all kinds of sizes and shapes from trucks to trains. My buddy gave me a spring pack from a Studebaker pick up. I have only used half of one leaf so far with 3 or 4 left
  8. Cool story Bill. Anvil looks in great shape have fun with it
  9. Nice hammers Lary. I want to make a set hammer next Nice score Pat. You can make all sorts of punches and fullers from those hammers
  10. I made a key ring hook. It turned out pretty much as I visioned and I am happy with it.
  11. Very interesting and nice looking anvil. I like the narrow horn
  12. Yes make a bick, one of the things I dont like about mine is the blunt horn. I trimmed mine up a bit but there is a lot of material to remove so I made this bick. Plus it was fun
  13. For me silicon worked perfect. I wrapped a chain and put on a few magnets but it was glueing to the base that made all the difference.
  14. Bart, what do you mean by long cool curve on one side? Are the horns asymmetrical? Can you share an image? I really like the looks of the French anvils
  15. M.J. my Kanca had a thick layer of clear coat on the face. It was very hard to remove with a cup brush. Have you removed the clear if it came with any? You will get better rebound afterwards My Kanca seems very hard to me. It has %95+ rebound in the sweet spot and has barely any marks after three years of weekends I have heard of soft ones however, maybe I got lucky. I have been happy with mine - P.S. thats a good price. About what I paid, with shipping, 3 years ago
  16. I made a hook from a piece of 3/8” square, a bottle opener from half a RR spike and an anvil hold down from a piece of sucker rod, works real good. lots of fun and thanks for looking
  17. No name on the forge except No. 142 on pan and tuyere. In perfect condition save one missing bolt on the leg support. Belt drive blower no name but big and turns free. 1-3/4”x1/2” leaf spring pack and piece of cloth. All for $45.
  18. Nice score. I use my mild chunk for cutting and punching.
  19. My wife is a stained glass artist and made a gift for my nieces upcoming wedding so I took these… and a made a stand. I like nothing about it other than it works as intended (which I am real happy with) It was harder than I thought it would be. The stained glass is super special and a true work of art
  20. I believe there are several anvil makers using ductile iron. It can be hardened to a degree supposedly.
  21. Dollars US. The mistake was converting the orthometric height published in meters by using 3.2808... feet per meter instead of the proper .3408 meters to the foot. A small discrepency but it added up when starting from sea level like Billy said. This amounted to a 1 foot bust and caused the contractor to move 330,000 yards of fill dirt twice. It is a huge site. It started when producing the topo map and wasnt noticed until they went to tie in the sewer line and found our site was too high. Dosent sound like much but building height restrictions are very strict on the site. Very much a rookie mistake that should have been caught well before any dirt was moved or designed for that matter.
