  1. I got a couple more hours in. Started a knife from a 3/4” coil spring, cigar poker from a 3/16 garage door spring, and a a hook from a 8” spike. Lots of fun and thanks for some inspiration Das.
  2. Das can you post a picture of a finished one. 50 sounds like a lot. I got home a couple hours early and tried my new set hammer. Works fine but too big for what I was trying to do also made a heart for my sweetheart. First try with the horse heads and I pretty happy with them. and a bigger s hook. Lots of fun. Thanks for looking.
  3. Nice to see everyones work. Not today but over the last several weeks I try to make an S hook every time I forge and they are starting to build up. I have given away dozens.
  4. Really cool! How old is it and what does it weigh? looks in great condition under the dirt and I cant wait to see it run. How long do you figure it would take to cut a pice of your rail?
  5. Thanks all. I dream of the White Whale ”..harpoons thrust to the sky!”
  6. Good work everyone. Mine works but barely. My thought was a little tape cutter up front, which works fine, and a pull style opener but it is too small and I cant get it sharp. Forged like mild and wont harden so.. fun to make for sure. Yup its the 9/16”
  7. I made a nail header a year or so ago and never really tried it. Was harder than it should have been but I got couple that I liked.
  8. You are a lucky man Das. Nothing better than happy, healthy kids.
  9. Very nice for first work Dave, much nicer than mine. Love the fork. Really like the decorations on it. Very colonial looking
  10. Very nice all above. I need work with ball ends but getting better. Also normalized a leaf spring knife, made a bottle opener and a couple spacers for my vise to use with an offset bending idea I want to try. Not a lot of time but a lot of fun
  11. Files are easy to find. Almost every swap meet or yard sale. Depending the amount of files In the box and their condition , a dollar a piece may be too much. I would just wait and pick up one or two here and there to have. Wait on a big amount of them until you have a use for them
  12. Looks good from here. Can you see any markings? Sweet score
  13. Wow. Cant wait to hear your review and see some pictures. Super score!
  14. Really nice. I like the shapes where the blade ends at the bolster? If that's what it called. Reminds me of an anvil.
  15. Perfect shape Das. Is it a commission piece? Nice tripod Goods. What do the ends look like? Two open circles and one closed?
  16. Shainaru, yes just beeswax Jennifer, habit mostly from not wanting to mar my new anvil. Found it easier than using a cutting plate and I dont worry about missing or cutting through. Love the hammer
  17. I have broken countless leaves. Keep at it. I made a smaller version of yesterdays hooks. This time 1/2” x 1/4” and 1/4” round. Lots of fun and took 2 hours total. my favorite sucker rod punch and my improvised anvil used for cutting and punching mostly. Holland cone. I use it quite a bit. honey smoked steel. good weekend of stress relief at the forge. thanks for looking
  18. Super nice natkova. How much does it wiegh?
  19. I made a trammel hook and a hook to hook it on. 1” x 1/4” bar and 1/4” round Lots fun. You can see where I got careless and missed a punch blow. My first one and it works great
