  1. The main thing I would use it for would be TIG welding stainless & aluminum. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  2. So far all of the music that has been posted are some of my favorites. However if someone posts some rap music, I'm afraid I would have to report it as abusive. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  3. I watched the video yesterday and said "I gotta get me one of those" I also liked the adjustable small welding table they built out of a bowling ball, 2 brake rosters and some scrap steel, gotta make one of those too. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  4. We had the same problem, had one of those metal carports big enough for two cars put into the hill. It's worked out pretty well for us, the whole unattached garage is now a shop with the blacksmith shop attached to it. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus

  8. Beeswax is a major component in muzzleloading. I use it to make patch lube for round ball loading and minie ball lube for old smooth-bore muskets and later rifled muskets, like used in the AWS (Civil War). It's also used for waterproofing gun stocks and for sealing the flash pan on flintlock rifles in inclement weather. I have restored a lot of original old guns and like to use what was used back in the day. At one time I made a lot of traditional candles from it mixed with tallow. Got a sticking drawer, rub a little bees wax on it. Also if you have dogs, don't leave it where they can get it. They love it and it's good for them (unless they eat a pound at one sitting) especially if it still has honey on it. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  9. I can say that a lot of us have missed you and consider you like a sister, or at least I do. I was not fortunate enough to have a sister, just an older brother to fight with. I love your writing style and so does Debi, she sometimes reads over my shoulder and when you posted about the retort, she said move over and took my seat at the computer. Some day I'll get around to building one. Hope you are staying healthy and happy and visit here once in a while. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus

  11. You mean you don't appreciate Picasso??? I was trying to figure out what the mustache was made from as well. Debi says copper pipe tapered down painted red. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus

  16. A lot of the members have made a lot of lump charcoal. There is a few threads about it in Solid Fuels. Here is one I have bookmarked. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/59604-charcoal-she-retorted/ I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus

  18. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. If you can take pictures of the opposite side of the picture shown and a little closer also the bottom of the base, lots of time the look of the bottom will offer clues. Are there any numbers stamped in to the foot under the horn? Over all it looks like a very good anvil no matter the maker. Another thing that might help is to know your general location as anvils are made all over the world. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  19. There was a neighbor on the ridge east of us about a mile as the crow flies. He had a 1950 ford pick up that he restored, nice John Deer green. He was born and raised in Carroll County. One day I was headed to the next town east of us and when I came up the hill out of the Kings River bridge, I saw him sitting on the side of the road. Seems he had run out of gas and the battery was low from trying to get it started. I pulled over in front of him and asked if I could help. He appreciated it and asked if I could go up and get him some gas. I said how about if we hooked up a chain and I would pull him up to the station. He was really surprised that I would do that and we hooked up my chain and off we went. I pulled him in to the Outpost station at the top of the grade, right up to a gas pump. While he was filling his tank, I unhooked the chain and turned around and pulled up to the front of his truck, got out my jumper cables and hooked up to jump start the truck. He was so impressed that I would do all that for someone I had only met once and wanted to pay me. I told him that he could do me the same favor if he saw me stranded sometime. From that time on Bill must have spread the word around and Debi & I and both boys who were in school were accepted as locals.
  20. When we moved to the Ozarks, one of the first folks, who were native to the area, that we met and became friends with, told us that around here strangers are tolerated. Just give it time for you to be accepted. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  21. Also adding a little lube, like bees or candle wax to all sliding area's helps in sealing and reduces friction. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  22. With that latest rant, it wouldn't surprise me if he has been restricted from posting for a while. Admin. can only be expected to take so much abuse before deciding that's enough. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  23. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I really like the forge and the tong rack built in. The planned edging could be something simple like the stock used for the tong rack with short sections of 1/4 inch round stock welded on, that will drop into holes drilled in the brick or u shaped brackets on the sides to keep it from falling off, but easily removed if needed. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  24. I don't have any experience with them, However I have had experience with Holland Anvil in MI and highly recommend them. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
