  1. Our slack tub is a deep cast urethane sink that was gifted to us. I usually pull the plug to drain it, unless I expect to need it soon. Always drain it when cold weather approaches. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  2. I did a google search for bootjack styles and came up with this, lots of images here. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&sca_esv=598666418&q=bootjack+styles&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=ishvnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwitnK-Py-CDAxXIEUQIHYKVBpYQ0pQJegQIExAB&biw=1053&bih=491&dpr=1.2 I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. 3. That's all I've ever heard them called. I usually make them out of old horse shoes & flat plate or sometimes wood as a base. Yours look very good. I'm also happy to see I'm not the only one who has to hang on to something when using one(grin). I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  4. I do basically the same thing using the 18 inch chainsaw bar as a gauge. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  5. When I replaced the 8 footers with the 4 footer florescent lamps, I wired up outlets in the rafters from the switch, to plug the lamps into. 1 outlet between 2 lamps. The 5000 lumen LED lamps that are replacing the florescent lamps plug right in the existing outlets. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  6. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I don't think the pipe dope turning brown will be a problem, at least it isn't in our forge. Just to be safe when it is cold turn on the gas and check it for leaks with a little soapy water. If you do have to replace it, use some propane rated Teflon tape. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  7. I had the same experience in the garage. The city built a new state of the art fire department facility and converted the old fire facility into the police department facility. They gave me 4 of the old 8 foot fluorescent light fixtures and I put them in the new garage we built. For some years they worked very well but the problem of finding and transporting the 8 foot tubes was a chore. Then as you said in cold weather the lamps took a while to come on and the ballast's started burning out. By then I couldn't get to the lamps without moving a ton of stuff so I replaced the 8 footers with 2 4 foot fluorescent as they stopped working. Fast forward and the 4 footers started having the same problems, so now as they go bad instead of replacing the ballasts I'm replacing them with 4 foot LED's which I buy at HF 4 at a time when they go on sale. So far not one LED has failed so I'm happy with them. They are all controlled with a light switch but individual lights can be turned on/off if not needed. 8. We have gone to the LED shop lights with pull chains. That way we can control the amount of light to fit the circumstances. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  9. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. No matter who made it, I would say it's an outstanding anvil and should give good service for generations to come. If you add your general location in your profile it will help with giving better answers. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  10. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. When I saw your location, I thought you were from Australia, we have a lot of members from the land down under. A great group in OZ. OZ roll call - Everything Else - I Forge Iron I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  11. I found the press and power hammer he was using interesting. It appeared that the round lower die in the power hammer was turning with every blow. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  12. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. Anvil values differ wildly depending upon location. Also prices are figured on pounds they weigh. I will say for $50 U.S. you basically got a steal for a Swedish Steel Anvil no matter where in the world you are located. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  13. Goods, thanks for the lead on Shurap from Ukraine. I just watched his video on making knives from the Occupiers Tank Cannon. Absolutely outstanding knives, I can see what I'll be doing, watching a lot more of his videos. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  14. Steve received the latest package from Will Brouwers . Thank you Will. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  15. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. The lack of a pritchel hole will date it to around 1840 when they first appeared or earlier. Hope you have read about not doing any grinding, milling or welding on the hardened steel face, which does more harm than good. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  16. Opening up old threads is not a bad thing. There probably newer members who have the same question or problem and can learn something from it. Also it keeps members who are no longer with us in our memories. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  17. I knew I had seen that somewhere but for the life of me couldn't remember where. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  18. I don't know where in the world you are located but if you do a search for Mark Krause Hammer Whisperer he probably knows more about Beaudry's than anyone else in the world. He is located in the Pacific NW USA. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  19. I love working with hex bar's. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  20. Along with those who have passed away, most responders haven't logged on since 2019-2020 so I doubt anyone will see this. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  21. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I did a search like suggested in the Read This First thread using Google and this is the first thread that popped up. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  22. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. The 2-2-2 is the weight as when it was made in English hundred weight. The first number is 112X2 second number 28X2 (can't be over 3) third number is actual in pounds. So the first 2=224 second 2=56 third 2=2 for a total of 282 pounds more or less. If you post some pictures and where in the world you are located may will help with whatever else you want to know. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  23. Americano Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I read on a blog about pizza ovens a couple of years ago that they were building them with reclaimed home furnace burners that were steel or cast iron. When we had to have our furnace replaced I saved the burner & gas regulator, planning to build a pizza oven. I still haven't gotten arountoit though. If you are close to me stop by and you can have it. If you are on the other side of the planet, check with some HVAC places that work on furnaces, most here will give you more burners that you can carry. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  24. Is the wrench in the picture, the same one with new rods threaded? I also have never seen one like it, just so cool when it's opened up are the sides the same size opening? I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  25. Don't ya love it when a plan comes together. Your welds look just fine, much better than a lot of mine and I've been welding for around 60 years. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
