What are the rough dimensions on a RR spike?
they're about 5/8 square and about 6" or so long
keep in mind you can forge the bit and joint and a stub and weld on the reins
The reason the jaws don't meet squarely is the pivot joint has play in it . the rest of the problems can be taken care of with a good file...how does the screw look?
that would work good if you vented it up ypur side draft hood from the bottom would keep and up draft going I would think
as a side note a sewing machine motor would work good as a blower motor with a dimmer switch
a lot of the tools that harbor freight sales have AC motors of the universal brush type that could be adapted to use as a blower motor...you don't see many brush type motors anymore
Try one of the RR bolts with the head cut off and a handle welded on...makes a nice header
also I've found that to take a file and put a radius on the top side of the square hole the nails release better..don't get hung up
just picked up a Miller 625 it only uses 75 lb of compressed air and is suppost to cut up to 5/8 I only tried 1/2 ...slow. They say a torch is better for larger stuff
