  1. I like using my 150lb Vulcan. Forged on it for two years daily and never had problems. Just keep heat in your material. Worst thing for any anvil is striking cold material on it.
  2. Ausfire where are the pics and measurements???
  3. Das roses look great, do some piening on the pedals will take it up a notch and add some texture to the pedals. You can also use the same pedal pattern for different flowers. If you are going to do a lot of them try to find someone around you that uses/has a laser cnc. I have a couple big fab shops around me that cut my pedal patterns and bell patterns for me. Gets you a lot quick and can save some time and money.
  4. Cork that is pretty amazing, I think picking up some rail would be a wise choice. If I ever make it over I will for sure look you up. Forge well, MattO. If you ever get this way let me know. My wife's family are O'Dority not quite sure where the are from but my sister in law was over there last summer with my wife's aunt looking at graves and tring to trace their family line.
  5. It is a wagon vise. The holes. In the base are for u bolts that go around the tong of the wagon. Nice little vise.
  6. Corksmith my family is from county cork. I have never been over but want to get. There to research my family. O'Callaghan. I would keep looking. I think an old chunk of steel would work better than that for hot metal.
  7. I use pure chlorophyl I get it from my chiropractor it is amazing stuff. The US army was going to use it in World War II but did not want the dark green goo on it's soldiers. Has heeled good 2nd degree burn on me with minimal to no scaring. It has a natural pain relief and helps in cell heeling and new skin growth.
  8. I m going to say it is more like a Trenton than a fisher. This one has handling holes and a stamped logo/ weight. I m saying forged anvil not cast.
  9. Should be a good useable vise. Down he road if you need to or want to you can always make it straight again. Best point is it is useable as is and you are using it. Way to go!!
  10. Frosty I have some of the same ideas,. Thanks. The ones I watched clay do where from 1.5 and 2" square stock. I have also been pondering a sheet metal one that is raised and chased. I like the thought on a wood rack. Gnomes should be helpful and doing something.
  11. Hey all, my mother in law wants a metal gnome, I am looking for help with ideas?? I have seen clay Spencer do one on his treadle hammer but don't remember what all the tools and dies looked like. Any other ideas would be great.
  12. Dickb the old window weights work good for that. Another way to use the chain is to make a pedal or a sturup to stand on.

Bryan you did well the "hammer heads" are top fullers not hammers. Good score
  14. Why get rid of all scale, the one you are coping has forge and scale marks? But you'd does look good!
  15. Jacob where are you in Lincoln, l will be at m sister in laws tomorrow and part of saterday. She lives over by 70th and Adams. When I ran wire to my shop I had an electrician come and listen to what I wanted to do. Then I ran the wires and before I turned the power on had him come back and check how I hooked it all up.
  16. Thanks Matei, it is one of the nicest new tools I have ever saved up for. Just don't want to abuse her by not using her. Guess she is one thing that will always get better looking with heavy use. Frosty no need for a coaster, I have a swinging beverage holder by the forge. And a coaster spot to help keep coffee warm on the hood of the forge. I am laughing at how long it will take for me to quit babying her. Oil rubs after a day's use. Might want to keep that one quiet so the wife doesn't hear that. She might get jealous she is defiantly fun to learn how to drive. Amazing the difference between my other anvil.
  17. Like them a lot nice organic flow.
